I cannot take this anymore
I'm saying everything I've said before
All these words they make no sense
I find bliss in ignorance
Less I hear the less you'll say
But you'll find that out anyway
Just like before

[Chorus]
Everything you say to me
Takes me one step closer to the edge
And I'm about to break
I need a little room to breathe
'Cause I'm one step closer to the edge
And I'm about to break

I find the answers aren't so clear
Wish I could find a way to disappear
All these thoughts they make no sense
I find bliss in ignorance
Nothing seems to go away
Over and over again
Just like before

[Chorus: x2]

Shut up when I'm talking to you
Shut up, shut up, shut up
Shut up when I'm talking to you
Shut up, shut up, shut up
I'm about to break!

[Chorus: x2]

General Comment:i think this was the first linkin park song i ever heard, it was probably playing on 92.3 krock when i heard it, i quickly looked the band up and loved them! i was a freshmen-sophomore in high school i don't remember exactly, but this song has a fast paced rock that you have to love... it's a shame we don't have a decent radio station to hear new songs from new bands anymore in our area, this song will always be one of my favorite from lp.

General Comment:okay, you don't have to like this song. but for God's sake this is a website for song meanings. not your asshole comments that nobody wants to hear (yes, even this comment). if you open a history book that someone else has used, you'd be pissed off to see crap like "wrong", "history sucks", "retarded" and "This part of history sucks, even for history"

General Comment:I'm feeling the same way as SUMINER. When my parents fucking piss me off, I'm listening to this song, and turn up to the last volume. It helps alot, I mean, didn't know that a song like this could raise my rage. This song is just, brilliant.
The best line is when Chester screams; "SHUT UP WHEN I'M TALKING TO YOU!"

General Comment:This song is my cool off song. When I get into an argument with my father he never lets me get a word in and never lets me take a moment to cool off, even when I ask him to. I get so furious with him that I have actually punched holes in the wall right in front of him on two occasions. After an argument like this I will jump in my car and throw on Linkin Park beginning with this song. My father always asks "Why are you always so angry when you sing to your music?" I always tell him, "Cause you only ever see me listen to music after we fight." After singing along with this song, every ounce of anger and resentment in my essence is expelled. It is like that with most to all Linkin Park songs - this one being most prominent - and its what keeps me from doing exactly what this song talks about, going over the edge. So my interpretation of this song is that it is a song of release.

General Comment:By the way, PRtwilight85, you're a freak, meaning you're not 'normal'. Take it as a compliment, it means you're brave. You're not afraid to be yourself in a world of chavs and wannabee gangstas. Although, I can't help but object to your lack of love for all LPs stuff.
And to those that dis Chesters and Mikes voice, that's because they're different, meaning they sing with emotion. Oh, and rap isn't too bad so long as it has MEANING! I count LP as the no. 1 band in the world, and they're amazing live.

General Comment:I hate it when people dis LP, it makes me sick that someone can say "Linkin Park are shit!" before turning up the radio when 50 Cent decides he wants someone to lick his 'lollipop'. I'm 14 and LP have been my favorite band for about 8 years! Even then, LPs meaningful music appealed to me, now more so. So shut up if you'd rather listen to Fiddy and call emos and metalheads gay.

General Comment:This song makes me think of old friends I used to have. I'll say that again, USED TO HAVE, or in other words, they are not my friends anymore.
But the lines of this song makes me think of people who are bad people and won't build a bridge and get a life, they keep living in the past, a past that was very dark for me and I cannot take it anymore, hence the 1st line of the song. And when I try all I can to speak to them and have done all I can to be nice to them, they won't listen, hence the scream of "shut up when I'm talking to you". And finally, that one step closer to the edge and I'm about to break. What I'm saying is that I can relate to this song.

General Comment:This is the kind of songs LP should make more often, not there mellow style stuff like Minutes to midnight. I love this song because is releases all my anger. This song is about (ya what the lpu2n said above my comment) a person that is pushing you to the limit and you can't get rid of him/her and he/she is not leaving you alone. Personally I think that Hybrid Theory is the perfect album and Papercut, One Step Closer and Forgotton are the top 3 songs respectively. I still listen to this album even after 8 years It has been out. Rock on LP

General Comment:Just as you said, xzilhery, there really isn't the real meaning here... but that's ok, because it is meant be interpreted in many ways. But this song isn't about a bad record label. It was written when the band was having arguments about the lyrics for "Runaway" (another song on Hybrid Theory), and they got a bit out of hand. Personally, I don't think this song is among Linkin Park's best, but it still kicks ass! Good to get anger out. Rock on LP!
