Time stands still
All I can feel is the time standing still
As you put down the keys
And say: "Don't call me please,"
While the radio plays
"I Think I Need a New Heart"

You've lied, too
But it's a sin that I can't tell the truth
'Cause it all comes out wrong
Unless I put it in a song
So the radio plays
"I Think I Need a New Heart"
Just for you
"I Think I Need a New Heart"

'Cause I always say "I love you,"
When I mean: "Turn out the light,"
And I say: "Let's run away,"
When I just mean: "Stay the night,"
But the words you want to hear
You will never hear from me
I'll never say: "Happy anniversary,"
Never stay to say: "Happy anniversary,"
So I think I need a new heart

Give me time...

My Interpretation:I think the song is about a person with a severally broken heart (like the most songs of the songwriter) but who is trying to move on, having a relationship with somebody else. I don´t think it means to be cruel or to cheat the girlfriend, but he really wants to keep going with her, because it seems the right thing to do.
I tell this because I did felt in love once in my life. He was like the most wrong thing that happened in my whole life, and then I had other boyfriends, but when I sad "I love you", I couldn´t be really sincere, but I meant when I tried to make them happy and forget about him, and the miserable life he gave to me when we´re together.
Actually, this song is like what happens when you "take Prozac, right, and just smile all night at somebody new, Somebody not too bright but sweet and kind who would try to get you off my mind." (from "I don´t wanna get over you").
Ok, it doesn´t mean it´s right to put someone who has nothing to do with it in a fail relationship, but it can´t mean you don´t try to really love this person or make he/she happy until you realize that you need a new heart.

General Comment:haha a classic. I think it's about him being insensitive, saying what he thinks he needs to say, being irrational. He doesn't care, he can't help it though he's dragging her along, and bringing her hopes up...and it doesn't matter anyway, it wont last. He's too indecisive. Great song

General Comment:I don't think it's 'but it's a sin that I can't tell the truth' but 'but it's assumed that I can't tell the truth'.

And it's about a break up that's happening because he can't say what he means and mean what he says. He wishes it could be different 'just for you, I think I need a new heart', but can't help saying what the other wants to hear... However, he can't do commitment, but he hopes that'll change 'give me time'.

I resonate with this song a lot. It's not about trying to get someone into bed, but trying to say what they want to make them happy and then realising you can't live up to it...

Plus this song makes me bop round the room in my pants.

General Comment:i feel like im in a similiar situation to this song.

had an ex relationship and was hurt by it. now he is trying to force new relationships to replace the love lost. he spits out bs like "i love you" and "lets run away" because it gets done, what he wants done.... he wants to go to sleep and for her to stop talking and he wants sex. butttttt he also says it because he wants to believe it and and he wishes he really felt it. but he doesnt feel it and he feels it is his fault that he cant be attatched to anyone anymore because his heart was so damaged in the past.

General Comment:This song is about my ex-boyfriend. A guy who always ends up in relationships despite the fact that he hates them. And tells girls he loves them without really meaning to. And then dumps them after a month to six weeks when he:
    a) realizes he doesn't really love her, and
    b) realizes he's already falling for someone else.

Asshole. But it's such a catchy song.

General Comment:i think it all kind of fits - he gets rejected ("don't call me") because he can't commit, maybe because of romantic baggage, maybe just because; but he kind of wants to, since that's what his lover wants ("need a new heart - just for you"). or something like that...

General Comment:A song about guilt. He know he doesn't really lover his lover, but he can't admit it: "It's a sin that I can't tell the truth."

especially now that he has gotten in too deep: "I always say 'I love you'."

It would be easier if he could just get a new heart that would love her (or him for SM) so he doesn't have to admit his guilt: "Never stay to say: 'Happy anniversary,', So I think I need a new heart,
    Give me time... "

General Comment:I've always heard this with a really morphed perspective- I know that it doesn't make much sense, especially compared to all of your analyzes, but it's just how I hear it.
    ANYWAY
I think it's about someone who has to change themselves for a lover who is getting tired of the ways and things that they constantly do/say.
They need a new heart not because of past pain they've experienced... just to make that other person happy, to keep up with their wants.
