Lyrics for Ring of Fire as interpreted by sane

Ring of Fire Lyrics
Love is a burning thing
And it makes a fiery ring
Bound by wild desire
I fell into a ring of fire

I fell into a burning ring of fire
I went down, down, down
And the flames went higher
And it burns, burns, burns
The ring of fire
The ring of fire

I fell into a burning ring of fire
I went down, down, down
And the flames went higher
And it burns, burns, burns
The ring of fire
The ring of fire

The taste of love is sweet
When hearts like ours meet
I fell for you like a child
Oh, but the fire went wild

I fell into a burning ring of fire
I went down, down, down
And the flames went higher
And it burns, burns, burns
The ring of fire
The ring of fire

And it burns, burns, burns
The ring of fire
The ring of fire
The ring of fire

This is the song that made me first love Johny Cash....and other songs like Folsom Prison blues made me keep loving him.

I cannot shake the story, be it true or not, that I heard long ago that this song is about JC and Tammy Wynette in a hotel room, and using BENGAY rather than KY! I have no idea as to the validity of that tale, but DAMN is it funny! I love Johnny Cash, though. He's the Man In Black, for cryin' out loud! Quite possibly the coolest guy, ever.

Some imbecile once told me that Johnny Cash wrote this song after he started a forest fire with a cigarette. Actually, it wasn't even written by him at all, it was written by his wife.

yeah, woo hoo, lovely song, it kinda makes me mad when people look at this song as Johnny Cash's sole contribution to music, just because it was in a dozen or more commercials.

Well honest to God yall I was just watchin CMT and this song is about Jonny when he was on tour with this woman and they fell for each other. Even thought they were both married to other people, the fell in love. And they eventually got married. "Ring of Fire" signifies how they both loved each other but felt they couldn't do anything b/c they were married to other people. It has everything to do with love.

This song was written by June Carter Cash about the love she felt for her husband Johnny.

It's a metaphor for a love triangle. June only wrote the lyrics. The mexican trumpets were JC's idea, he had a dream and in the the dream the lyrics were playin in his head with the trumpets. So I read anyway.

He is the king.

close f1yank, it's about having severe diarrhea with hemorrhoids...he should have given this song to Taco Bell ("get the runs from the border") or Preperation H.
I went down down down
and the flames went higher

this is about wiping. The most painful part...

Actually this song was written by June Carter and Merle Kilgore. June was involved with Johnny Cash and later married him. This song is about her feelings for the troubled Cash, and how she was in love with him despite his his volatile, drug-addicted lifestyle. The fact they were both married to other people when they began singing together is likely another inspiration.

This song is the epitome of country music.

It's very unique, yet it explains everything else.

"Love is a burning thing." ...The theme is universal.

Also, I fell for this song when I saw it in a Surge Pop commercial years back. It was hilarious because one guys soaked his buddy's taco in hot sauce. Besides that, this is one of the greatest love songs of all time. Without a doubt, I will add that to my list of great love songs.

I heard from a radio show that this song is actually about the sin of adultery. And it's true! Johnny Cash was married, and this other lady country singer (I forgot her name, but she's a BIG name!!) was married as well, and fell for each other. Cash wrote this song to show his love was also an acceptance of going to hell for such a sin, and the woman he loved had a version of the song as well. I think they ended up getting married later on. What an awesome story behind a song!

I believe June was going through her divorce fomr her first husband at the time so she wasn't technically married, but Johnny sure was. And June and June first had the idea after the first time anything happened between her an Johnny ... at least I think so.
