The moment I wake up
Before I put on my makeup
I say a little prayer for you
While combing my hair, now,
And wondering what dress to wear, now,
I say a little prayer for you

Forever, forever, you'll stay in my heart
and I will love you
Forever, forever, we never will part
Oh, how I'll love you
Together, together, that's how it must be
To live without you
Would only be heartbreak for me.

I run for the bus, dear,
While riding I think of us, dear,
I say a little prayer for you.
At work I just take time
And all through my coffee break-time,
I say a little prayer for you.

Forever, forever, you'll stay in my heart
and I will love you
Forever, forever we never will part
Oh, how I'll love you
Together, together, that's how it must be
To live without you
Would only be heartbreak for me.

My darling believe me,
For me there is no one
But you.

General Comment:Reminds me of Emily Dickinson who never went to church but prayed and stayed and composed in her house in Amherst, MASS. Nice song if you listen close and with an open mind to the olde interpretations of the band.

General Comment:Wow, mudshark, that's a really good interpretation. I heard this song on an oldies station in the middle of the night when I was about 9 years old and it's been one of my faves ever since!

General Comment:Subtle antiwar song, written during the Vietnam era. The protagonist is "saying a little prayer" for her guy, who is fighting overseas, and worries that she may wind up "living without him" (i.e., that he won't make it back alive).

General Comment:I can never think of this song without laughing. I guess it's cause the first time I heard it was in My Best Friends Wedding and that scene was hilarious. It's a catchy song.
