a great song about the alice in wonderland acid trip...how did such a young ingenuous girl get caught up in the drug culture indemic to the 1960's? go ask alice when she was just small....watch the disney version of alice in wonderland and everything will be as clear as mud and then watch the movie 'platoon' because it uses this song to portray a drug soiree in vietnam.

to shauncreaney: mud is not easy to understand many smart peoples have written essays about mud ;)
hey, why not use drugs? how many of the folks shouting 'no drugs' are drinking alcohol, smoking cigarettes or eating chocolate? everyting we use just for 'fun' can be a drug... driving fast cars, surfing the internet, earning and spending money. its just a matter how you deal with drugs. as long as you can control the drug its no problem. as soon as the drug is controlling you, you have a problem.
btw, the song is one of my favs :)

ok ok i want to set you all straight. i actually listen to jefferson airplane and actually know about this song. she was tripping when she wrote it so it is about an acid trip but most of the ideas were taking from the book "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" and "Through The Looking Glass" by Lewis Carroll which was written back in 1910 or something and had nothing to do with drugs but was a story written for a little girl that Lewis Carroll was obsessed with. The book Go Ask Alice was published after the song was released and they took the name of the book from the song. so hahaha. i know what i am talking about and jefferson airplane kicks ass. now lets see what other songs you people have ruined with you stupid meanings.

What are you talking about dude? Lewis Caroll did drugs, lots of people did opium back then. He wrote Humpty Dumpty dude was obviously chasing the white dragon. Your right about his little girl obsession though

The whole song is refering Drugs to the movie "Alice And Wonderland" It is talking about what a good trip can make you do. And is just useing Alice as a way to refer what you could see and go through. How one pill makes you larger... in other words you feel like you are on top of the world.And after you come down off your high you feel like nothing and need another fix. The ones that mother gives you and don't do anything at all... refers to regular perscribed drugs... by doctors that you take when you are sick with a cold... not acid and LSD. Here goes with Wonderland and drugs thing. "Go ask ALice when she's 10 feet tall". Refering to when she is high and feels like she is 10 feet off the groud. Buzzed in other words. If you go chaseing Rabbits and know you're going to fall. Talks about getting the high and then falling once coming off it. The Caterpiller part refers to a drug Lord or a vision from being high. And to call alice when she was just small is talking about talking to the person after they came off the drug and how low they felt. The man on the chessboard get up and tell you where to go.... refers to having those against you for useing the drug. And you've just had some kind of mushroom and your mind is moving low. Is talking about the drug you just took and how your mind is now in a haze and the affect from the drug. Go ask Alice I think she'll know... is talking about asking her because she has used the drug... she knows the affects it will have and how you will feel. When logic and porpotion hav fallin sloppy dead... that could mean two things the drug has gone so bad to your head that you don't remember anything because you are majorly stoned... or that you have had too much of the drug and are brain dead. White Knight talking backwards is talking about how when you are stoned you can't think and you slur your words often talking somewhat backwards. And the red queen is of with her head... that is talking about drugs pushing you too suciede and how they can either make you OD or go over the edge. Remember what the doormouse said feed your head, feed your head. That is talking about taking the drug and getting one high after another. Like after you come down from your high how you are jonesin for another one. And you need that one upper to make you feel better. SO the whole song is talking aout drugs and the use,effect, and feel of them that they take upon people. Yet at the same time useing the movie "Alice In Wonderland" to give you the mental picture. The song is amazing with it's lyrics,music, and singing. Also with the image it palys in your mind. Like two images going at once. IT ROCKS!!!
