This song inspired my screenname... Give Jesus Pants :-D ! Great song too... it's about how all of the things people talk about are all gravy and everything, but the only thing we want is for the world to give peace a chance! LOVE THIS SONG! heh

and laun39- I think there are plenty of people who share your opinion, but not enough people are willing to do anything for it

...and when someone is willing to give their life and reputation he is dismissed as idealistic and ignorant- which is ironically only the case for as long as the majority of people take that stance

Yes Matty, it is good that poeple sarifice their lives for the betterment of humanity and mankind. And Lennon was defintely a martry of the human race.

This song is simply against anything that doesn't have to do with peace and serenity, where poeple live and let live. I think someone should jam this in front of the white house, maybe Bush will understand how wrong he is, being war president in all.

Bush and his ilk think you have to have war to have peace. Hasn't worked out too well, though.

John wrote the song himself, he and Tommy Smothers played guitar, and besides John I think the people singing were a bunch of people who were there, including Yoko.

I'm sure it's just me, but there's something very Jonestown and Kool Aid-ish about this song. Maybe it just reminds me of the 70's.

John wrote this song after falling in love with one of his own comments during a media interview, "All we're saying is give peace a chance."

So, at he and Yoko's 'Bed-In For Peace' during a stay in peaceful Canada, John, a few close friends, and many loving crowd people recorded the song on a simple recorder Lennon had picked up down the street.

I absolutly love this song. and i agree it has very powerful yet simple message. GIVE PEACE A CHANCE. people dont realise how much war is ruining the world. i wonder if the world would be different if he was still alive...oh and at the end im pretty sure he says "alright beautiful..yay..we made it"
