Lyrics for Beautiful World as interpreted by YtseJam

Beautiful World Lyrics
It's a beautiful world we live in
A sweet romantic place
Beautiful people everywhere
The way they show they care makes me want to say
It's a beautiful world
Oh what a beautiful world
For you

It's a wonderful time to be here
It's nice to be alive
Wonderful people everywhere
The way they comb their hair makes me want to say
It's a wonderful place
Oh what a wonderful place
For you, for you, for you, for you, for you, for you, not me

I really like this (in my opinion) untypical ratm-song. But I don't think it's about love or so...for me it's about the blindness of many people considering whats going on in the world, about the differences between people (rich - poor, race, political things) and that there are many unfair or terrible things are happening because of these differences...and it doesn't seem to bother the people who have no problems. In my opinion it's also a very bitter song. But i can't really describe what I feel or think when I hear this song.

This is an untypical Rage song. The reason being that it is off of their cover album Renegades and it was originally performed by Devo. This song is not a happy song about how life is beautiful at all. It is very scarcastic and cynical about life and how many people are blind to the fact that they are wasting their life away. I really love this song because it speaks to me. I see the world in the same light.

Definitely not typical RATM material.. which makes it standout in a good way. Sounds like a speech right before a nuclear bomb hits. (dunno why it reminded me of something like that)

is anybody aware that this is simply a cover of a devo song?
tis supposed to be a sarcasm, and if you actually read the lyrics he's saying "not me"
which is supposed to mean that YOU may think the world is jsut fine, but he doesn't think it's fine at all, if any of you have tghe means, watch the video devo produced for this song, it will give you a better insight into the lyrics

this isn't an original RATM song. It was written by John Lennon, but of course rage added the for you and not me parts.

of the suffering of others

Yeah this song is from Devo. But I think it is about a common theme from rage. "Oh what a wonderful place
For you, for you, for you, for you, for you, for you, not me", its about a minority or the persecuted. Because Zach is Chicanno he got a lot of racism thrown his way when he was growing up, you can see it in "voice of the voiceless", "war within a breath", "people of the sun", "maggies farm." "Its a beautiful world for you", that means life is good for you because you arent the minority, you arent the one who has nothing, you arent the one who is being persecuted.

This song gives off a sense of bitterness and sarcasm...it tells of how a lot of people in the world are blinded by their own ignorance all they care about is there own lives, while in other places people can only dream of a life without fear or hunger

WTF GUYS!?
Have you actually listened to this song!? You say it is \"totally sarcasm\", but where is your evidence? He doesn\'t sing it sarcastically at all. You\'re basing your entire argument on themes expressed in previous rage songs.
When i listen to this song i imagine zack sitting on a hill, after the revolution - lamenting that after devoting his entire self to rebellion he can\'t fit into the new peaceful society.

Listen guys, Listen to the music. Then look at the lyrics, ignoring the the ending. Do they fit together? No. Now look at the ending. He spits this line out with a trace of bitterness in his voice, and it seems pretty clear to me that it's all sarcastic. Or at least, from an outsider's point of view.

TheProphetOfTruth, read the lyrics. See the last line? It flips the whole meaning of the song. Devo did that on purpose, but they made their song very upbeat and happy. So it decieved people into thinking that they're singing about a happy place, but RIGHT at the end the flip the meaning and say "To you it's great, we think it's shit".

And TornadoNHS? Lennon wouldn't write a song like this, this is pure Devo all the way

But RenegadeOfFunk, "Maggie's Farm" was originally a Bob Dylan song...

!!EVERY SONG ON "RENEGADES" IS A COVER!!

That's why these, and other songs on the album's lyrics may seem very unlike R.A.T.M

I dont think its sarcastic... But its not positive either...

its going.... I'm looking around.. and the world is great... but its not for me...
it totally seems to me like someone totally despairing of the world... and i can see him off to kill himself after this song...

like a suicide note... saying... I see all this stuff... and yet... it just dosnt speak to me...
its fine for you... but its just not for me...

*shrugs*

its not sarcasm, the song is writen from the perspective of the average american who doesnt know shit about shit and thinks everything is totally alright. within this perspective the song is uplifting, until he includes the line 'for you, not me' which makes the average know nothing besides what there told american (you) have a bit of a revealation (typical of the ignorant american, especially when a world vision add comes on) when they realize, oh shit everything isnt alright. and then procedes to not do anything about it.
