Yo, I was a fiend before I became a teen
I melted microphone instead of cones of ice cream
Music orientated so when hip-hop was originated
Fitted like pieces of puzzles, complicated
Shot grabbed the mic and try to say, " Yes y'all!"
They tried to take it, and say that I'm too small
Cool, 'Cause I don't get upset
I kick a hole in the speaker, pull the plug, then I jet
Back to the lab, without a mic to grab
So then I add all the rhymes I had
One after the another one, then I make another one
To dis the opposite then ask if the brother's done
I get a craving like I fiend for nicotine
But I don't need a cigarette, know what I mean?
I'm raging, ripping up the stage and
Don't it sound amazing 'cause every rhyme is made and
Thought of, 'cause it's sort of, an addiction,
Magnetized by the mixing

E-F-F-E-C-T
A smooth operator operating correctly
E-F-F-E-C-T
A smooth operator operating correctly
E-F-F-E-C-T
A smooth operator operating correctly
E-F-F-E-C-T
A smooth operator operating correctly

But back to the problem, I gotta habit
You can't solve it, you silly rabbit
The prescription is a hypertone that's thorough when
I fiend for a microphone like heroin
Soon as the bass kicks, I need a fix
Gimme a stage and a mic and a mix
And I'll put you in a mood or is it a state of unawareness?
Beware, it's the reaniamator!
A menace to a microphone, a lethal weapon
An assasinator, if the people ain't stepping
You see a part of me that you never seen
When I'm fiending for a microphone
'Cause I take it to the maximum, I can't relax see, I'm
Hype as a hypochondriac 'cause the rap be one
Hell of a antidote, something you can't smoke
More than dope, you're trying to move away but you can't, you're broke
More than cracked up, you should have backed up
For those who act up need to be more than smacked up

E-F-F-E-C-T
A smooth operator operating correctly
E-F-F-E-C-T
A smooth operator operating correctly
E-F-F-E-C-T
A smooth operator operating correctly
E-F-F-E-C-T
A smooth operator operating correctly

A smooth operator operating correctly.

Uh!

General Comment:I know I'm a bit late on this, but in reference to the guys a few posts up, I think he sounds a lot like Mike D from the Beastie Boys. So listening to Rage is like the Beasties with better music behind it, and more meaningful lyrics.

General Comment:imo this song is about being straight eg. instead of zach getting a kick from heroin or whatever like most rappers, to zach his lyrics and rhymes are his addiction.

General Comment:haha i can't get enough of Zach's vocals, ther just soo unique and it seems like he should be the only one to sing their songs, cuz the whole revolutionary thing just fits him so well...haha its good tom morello never does lead vocals, i heard his solo stuff and his singing is garbage

General Comment:Hypochondriac is someone you thinks their health is really bad when it's not! They worry too much. As for Tom Morello being really good - that was maybe true 10 years ago but his guitar playing hasn't developed at all - it's still all Wah and kill-switches. He even tapes 2 wahs together now (with Audioslave) and it sounds shit (IMHO)!

General Comment:Actually no, when I said the band I meant the back-up music, lke Tom Morello is really good, but Zach has an annoying voice, and that's my opinion, so shut up you fuckin idiot, there is no need to say "anyone that doesn't like Rage is an idiot who doesn't listen to real music" shut up for fuck sakem if you can't handle an opinion then go die, fuckin twat

General Comment:wait.... anti, you don't like Zack de la Rocha, or the rakim and whoever? If you don't like zach, and this my "opinion," you're an idiot who doesn't care about anything, and you just listen to music to be like everyone else.
