Paint no illusion, try to click with whatcha got
Taste every potion 'cause if yer like yerself a lot
Go let it out, go let it in, go let it out

Life is precocious in a most peculiar way
Sister psychosis don't got a lot to say
She go let it out, she go let it in, she go let it out
She go let it out, she go let it in, she go let it out

Is it any wonder why Princes & Kings
Are clowns that caper in their sawdust rings
Ordinary people that are like you and me
We're the keepers of their destiny,
We're the keepers of their destiny

I'm goin' leaving this city, I'm goin' drivin' outta town
And your comin' with me the right time is always now
To go let it out, to go let it in, and go let it out
To go let it out, to go let it in, and go let it out

Is it any wonder why Princes and Kings
Are clowns that caper in their sawdust rings
Ordinary people that are like you and me
We're the builders of their destiny
We're the builders of their destiny
We're the builders of their destiny
We're the builders of their destiny

So go let it out, go let it in
Go let it out, don't let it in
Go let it out, go let it in
Go let it out, don't let it, don't let it in, don't let it in

General Comment:Like million bees filling their place in the nest we follow the same pattern with multiple choices and a singular end.

The final conclusion from this song is that every one of us need to get what ever is on our mind out to the world.

    Amazing song!

Song Comparison:So, clearly this song is influenced strongly by "The Book Of Rules", by The Heptones. Recorded in the early seventies.
The Book Of Rules has several recordings with lyrics that vary slightly... that coupled with the fact that the lyrics to the song are somewhat difficult to discern, leads the lyrics open to argument and myc

General Comment:I think this song is about hedonism (in a good way)- doing whatever the hell you feel like doing to make yourself feel better/good.

My favourite line is 'ordinary people that are like you and me/we're the keepers of their destiny'- that's clearly such a working class line about how it's really the working class ruling the world because the ruling class fear an uprising so they have to cater to the working class :)

General Comment:I once listened to this song inside a Volkswagen Jetta swirling with marijuana smoke. I turned to the friend I was with and told her that I finally understood what Oasis was trying to say. It was about forgiving people that wrong you (letting it out) and not letting what they do bother you (don't let it in). Mind you, I was high, and it made perfect sense at the time.

General Comment:Commenting once more, I have to say this is hands down my favorite song and always will be. I've played it uncountable times and it still hasn't gotten old.

I still believe this song is about karma and how not to worry about what others say to you because you know something they dont at the moment- karma is right around the corner.

General Comment:Talk about an Oasis song that NEVER gets old... Seriously, I've heard this countless times, and it never seems to get stale in any way... it's a straight class tune! The song may relate to depression and difficult times, but for me, I play it whenever I feel good or wanna feel good... and also, this song is a blast to play along with... on the drums, that is.

General Comment:I agree with the post above

When I heard this song the first time, I literally 'felt' the meaning, especially by the way its sung.

It's about the result of being ruled by the roost and internalising your feelings, people that get stepped on, and 'don't let it out' (stand up for themselves) hence the line "we're the keepers of their destiny". If you don't express your anger about something, things will keep on going they way they have been and people or society will always be shat on.

In other words, just go let it out.
