It's amazing
How you make your face just like a wall
How you take your heart and turn it off
How I turn my head and lose it all

It's unnerving
How just one move puts me by myself
There you go just trusting someone else
Now I know I put us both through hell

I'm not saying there wasn't nothing wrong
I just didn't think you'd ever get tired of me
I'm now saying we ever had the right to hold on
I just didn't wanna let it get away from me

But if that's how it's gonna leave
Straight out from underneath
Then we'll see who's sorry now
If that's how it's gonna stand, when
You know you've been depending on
The one you're leaving now
The one you're leaving out

It's aggravating
How you threw me on and you tore me out
How your good intentions turn to doubt
The way you needed time to sort it out

I'm not saying there wasn't nothing wrong
I just didn't think you'd ever get tired of me
I'm now saying we ever had the right to hold on
I just didn't wanna let it get away from me

But if that's how it's gonna leave
Straight out from underneath
Then we'll see who's sorry now
If that's how it's gonna stand, when
You know you've been depending on
The one you're leaving now
The one you're leaving out

The one you're leaving now
The one you're leaving out

I'm not saying there wasn't nothing wrong
I just didn't think you'd ever get tired of me

But if that's how it's gonna leave
Straight out from underneath
Then we'll see who's sorry now
If that's how it's gonna stand, when
You know you've been depending on
The one you're leaving now
The one you're leaving out

Tell me is that how it's going to end
When you know you've been depending on
The one you're leaving now
And the one you're leaving out

The one you're leaving now
The one you're leaving out

    General Comment:Wonderful wonderful wonderful song

This is the story of a troubled relationship where there are many problems. He wants to stay with her despite the problems they have 'I'm not saying there was nothing wrong
I just didn't think you'd ever get tired of me
I'm now saying we ever had the right to hold on
I just didn't wanna let it get away from me'

Wifey seems to be running away from him 'But if that's how it's gonna leave Straight out from underneath' (picture a rat running away from underneath a carpet or something'

Overall their relationship seems to have been one of mutual dependence( and an unhealthy one at that) and she is no longer dependent and ready to break away and he is still in his state of over dependency

    I LOVE THIS SONGGGGG!!!!

General Comment:Always been another great track on a great album, but now going on around 8 years after I first listened, I am now going through exactly what the song is talking about. I mean exactly. I could not have worded the situation any better in my own head, let alone express it like this song has. Brilliant and highly underrated song.

General Comment:All the above posts are right. If you are having some sort of relationship type problem and are depressed, this is the song to listen to. This was my favorite song by matchbox 20 a few years back now. I still love it, just not as much, since I'm not in the same place anymore. This is my favorite part:

I'm not saying there was nothing wrong
I just didn't think you'd ever get tired of me
And I'm now saying we ever had the right to hold on
I just couldn't ever let you get away from me

so sad....and even worse if you've ever felt this way, which I'm sure most people have.

General Comment:when i listen to is it makes me wonder...I have been talking too this older guy for about eight months on and off...but never "dating"...just friends with all the attachments and the so called "love"...I found out he is dating someone two days after the last time i saw him, two weeks ago, they have been dating...this song is from my point of view to him in some aspects...I was his saftey net the whole time...he depended on me but then he left without notice. I know he is going to miss me and be sorry...well at least i hope. anyway i feel like i can relate to this song. great song.

    General Comment:This song is fantastic.

The emotion in Rob Thomas's voice when he sings that last "I'm not saying there was nothing wrong
I just didn't think you'd ever get tired of me" makes me burst into tears.

It's the culmination of all the hurt, anger and other emotion in this song.

    Brilliance.

General Comment:I absolutely love this song! It has such a powerful vibe to it. Just look at how many people have posted their interpretations about it. That says enough! And PS... to the girl who said "MB20 Sux", You are wrong, and if that is how you feel, then why are you looking at mb 20 songs?

General Comment:This, along with Rest Stop are the best songs on the album, you can feel exactly what he wrote every time you listen to it, and it always reminds me of my Dad, not coz of the lyrics but this was his album and I got it after he died and it reminds me of him every time I listen to it.
