Lyrics for Imagine as interpreted by kevin

Imagine Lyrics
Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

this song is the best by far that John Lennon did. too bad he wasn't a beatle though.

He is saying that his idea for the ideal world is a world with no separation. No country borders, no races, no religions, no language difference, nothing, everyone belonged to one united group. Simple simple.

I'm gonna just ingore pstate1447 because I haven't a clue what he's talking about. Anywho, this isn't my favorite song by Lennon, that honor belongs to God (The Dream Is Over). Still though, this song is PURE poetry. Imagine how great it would be if Lennon still lived, man. Anyone who lived in '80 (or for the younger fans like myself who have seen footage on TV of his death's shockwaves) know how much people loved him. Chapman really sucks.

I love this song because I relate to it totally. I have a very similar world view to John and even though some people say I'm crazy to believe it ("I'm a dreamer..."), but based on the popularity of this song I'm definitely not the only one. Instead of just agreeing with the message in the song though, people have to start implementing the message in this song.
Things like religion, countries, and money are the reasons for war and fighting, and if there was none of this then there'd be no war. And by religion I think John is saying that organized religion is the problem and not just believe in God because I don't see how that would adversely affect world peace. I think he's talking about how theres so much fighting in places like the middle east because of religion, even though the religions are very similar like all religions are.

is it simple? i find it cynical...
"Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can..."
while i like this song regardless of its meaning, i sometimes wonder if, while sounding so simple and hopeful, he's really pointing out that we DON'T live as one, and so on... and that we never really can. all of this is just a fantasy... not realized, and never will be.
but maybe that's just me.

In response to what “scheisse“ had to say:
Do you know anything about Lennon? I mean seriously, dip-shit, the man was simple. He wanted everyone to be happy. He was the epitome of a pacifist and he wanted people to love one another. The man had peace on his mind. You are really shitty at everything you do, I know this because, unfortunately, I read some of your comments and all of them suck.

mixmastermatty, chill out. i don't think that scheisse ever said anything about lennon not wanting people to be happy of not being a pacifist. i think scheisse was just stating their thoughts on the song and everyone is allowed to do that. you don't have to diss someone just because they don't agree with you.

mixmastermatty: i am in complete agreement with you. John liked it simple, simple life, simple lyrics, simple song, but even in his simpleness he was great. and this song is great. go matty go.

this song is great. i never said it wasn't. so guess what - i'm in complete agreement with you, too, when it comes down to it. and i know plenty about Lennon - maybe simple, but simple about complex shit. to read some comments and say all suck is a generalization, and that's basically it. again, this is a great song, but, as angelgarbage pointed out, i was just saying what i thought. and in reading YOUR comments, i found that you yelled at people for insulting others' opinions... what do you think of yourself now?

Do we really need arguing like this on a board for a song about world peace? Please, people.... Let's have a bit more respect than that.

Take a look at yourselves.......

Read the nonsense above.......

Read the song......

That's what John was getting at, Imagine if we could get over ourselves and live for what's important.
