The summer wind came blowin' in from across the sea
It lingered there, to touch your hair and walk with me
All summer long we sang a song and then we strolled that golden sand
Two sweethearts and the summer wind

Like painted kites, those days and nights they went flyin' by
The world was new beneath a blue umbrella sky
Then softer than a piper man, one day it called to you
I lost you, I lost you to the summer wind

The autumn wind, and the winter winds they have come and gone
And still the days, those lonely days, they go on and on
And guess who sighs his lullabies through nights that never end
My fickle friend, the summer wind
The summer wind
Warm summer wind
The summer wind

General Comment:I grew up listening to Sinatra (and Dean Martin) thru my father. I'm only 25 years old so I may not have the "credibility" to really talk about Sinatra...but I wanted to come here and just point out that if you add up ALL of the comments from ALL of Sinatra's songs on here then you won't pass 200. This is unfortunate, as Sinatra is a God, but also is probably the best example you'll find of a generation gap in music taste. I gaurantee that if all of the Sinatra fans from my father's and grandfather's generations were to post on this site...the servers would crash.

General Comment:This song always reminds me of Edgar Allen Poe's Annabel Lee. How they were so in love, but then the wind came from the sea, killing her. Just my opinion.

General Comment:my grandpa loved sailing, and 23 years ago he bought a boat and at the time this was his favorite song in the whole world so he named his boat Summer Wind. Unfortunatly the same year he drowned off of the same boat. This is my all time favorite song because it reminds me of my grandpa and everytime I hear the part "I lost you to the summer wind" it gives me chills down my spine. it's just so weird that he named his boat after this song. I am now into sailing and I named my sailboat Summer Wind II.

General Comment:okay I didn't even know the ataris had a song about "Summer Wind" until I was downloading Sinatra's after I found it...it's beautiful, and so much better than any one else has ever done, IMHO.

General Comment:i prefer the duet of this song with julio iglecias... i think it's cool because it's about two friends growing apart rather than two lovers. there are so many songs about love, it's a nice change to have one about friends, espeically male friends.

General Comment:i agree with pilotvsplane...even though it's really sad that some people are forgetting about the truly great artists of the 20th century. frank sinatra was god.

General Comment:the lyrics sound so mournful, but the instrumental parts add some hopefulness to finding love agian. People can learn lessons from sinatra songs.
