Lyrics for Digsy's Diner as interpreted by Winston2000

Digsy's Diner Lyrics
What a life it would be
If you would come to mine for tea
I'll pick you up at half past three
And we'll have lasagne
I'll treat you like a Queen
I'll give you strawberries and cream
And then your friends will all go green
For my lasagne

These could be the best days of our lives
But I don't think we've been living very wise
Oh no! no!

What a life it would be
If you would come to mine for tea
I'll pick you up at half past three
And we'll have lasagne

These could be the best days of our lives
But I don't think we've been living very wise
Oh no! no!

What a life it would be
If you would come to mine for tea
I'll pick you up at half past three
And we'll have lasagne I'll treat you like a Queen
I'll give you strawberries and cream
And then your friends will all go green
For my lasagne

Yeah, but the chorus is fantastic. "These could be the best days of our lives..." The way Liam sings it is... wow.

hehehehe I love this song, even though the lyrics are strange. The only one that seems to make sense is "these could be the best days of our lives/but I dont think we'd be living very wise/oh no no-oh"

Parabola 17 is correct, but forgets to add that Digsy was lead singer of the band Smaller, signed to creation records. Their biggest song was called 'Stray Dogs and Bin Bags'. They were rubbish. Alan McGee's greatest mistake, except Heavy Stereo and Hurricane#1.

Ahhh, this song sounds so sweet and young...It could be forgettable, except from its chorus that really make it something special...
Liam used to sound so "pure", don't you think?. I mean his voice really sounded full of the energy of his twenties. I love it, makes me smile along with some other of their songs around that time.

This song might seem really shallow, but if you really think about it, the lyrics are kinda deep.
The verses are all about having a good time and just hanging out at a friend's house. Then the chorus:These could be the best days of our lives, but I don't think we'd be living very wise. That's just saying that we could spend all our time doing nothing, and that could be the highlight of our lives. But we're meant to be doing so much more and getting so much more out of life than that.
Think about it...it makes sense on a certain level.
Oh yeah, the instrumental solo in the middle just makes me get up and dance.

I think the "shallowness" of the lyrics are kinda appropriate as it is clearly about childhood love - pick you up at half past three being a clear allusion to a school gate romance. In the same way as some people criticise Spaceman for being shallow - they miss the whole point, it is a song essentially about innocence, when nothing else really mattered.

I think "Lasagne" is possibly the greatest word I've ever heard Liam sing. He drags it out for, what, 3 seconds?

Noel wrote this as a piss take. in his own words "i'm flaying about on the fucking drums and r-kids screaming lasagne over and over, fucking hilarious".
But he did say that the only good part pf the song is the line "these could be the best days of our lives"
i just think it's a fucking good song

This song is very catchy, even though the lyrics are just plain stupid, except for "these could be the best days of our lives..." In all honesty, this song could've been so much more than just a joke... and if Oasis were to of really taken the time and thought the lyrics and idea over, this could've gone on the list with the other classics like Live Forever, Wonderwall, Slide Away, and so forth... it had the potential, but it's still a fun little song to listen to and appreciate from time to time.

"These could be the best days of our lives
But I don't think we'd be living very wise" - no point having the time of your life when you're young, because nothing will ever compare to the hedonistic days of your 20s and you'll have nothing left to look forward to?
That's what I'm afraid of...

Who they wrote it for as a pisstake while they were completely off their heads,Noel was banging away on the drums randomly shouting 'Lasagne'..Liam actually said the one song he will never perform is Digsy's Diner..Although most of the lyrics are nonsense,'These could be the best days of our lives' is just magical
