I'm sitting in a magic chair
Without Mary and I don't care
So far, so good is what I hear
Nothin' slows me down my dear
Sucking on it what a shame
Another, motherfucker drained
That's what you get I warned you all
Just add it up to my toll

I get a kick outta this
Watch you ball like a bitch
You'll get it you'll get it
You'll get yours motherfucker ain't no lie

I want to break you
Get off the rocket ride man
I can't even fake it
I'll say it again
You're on a downward slide my friend

So I hear they call it killing the fly
I can't hear it I might be blind
That's what you get I warned you all
Just add it up to my toll

    General Comment:I'm gonna shoot holes in all of your theories regarding these lyrics. This song in not about drugs, drug dealers, or any of the sort. The term "killing the fly" comes from the old saying "using a sledge hammer to kill a fly". In other words, use of extreme overkill to achieve a goal. The term "rocket ride" comes from the practice of erotic asphyxiation. Now, read those lyrics and tell us what you think...

    General Comment:My interpretation of Killing the Fly:

    Killing the Fly is about being a drug dealer who sees how his product is highly addictive and he knows that over time he no longer sells the product to the customer but to the customer to the product. He even warns initially the customers to be careful because he knows that it draws people like flies to a light, but this particular light is so strong it eventually too hard to resist and kills the fly over time.

    First Stanza:

    I'm sitting in a magic chair {The dealer is in a powerful position, possibly selling heroin or meth}
    Without Mary and I don't care {He does this job without Mother Mary, no religion, and he's apathetic}
    So far, so good is what I hear {Business is good}
    Nothin' slows me down my dear {It never stops or slows. Very reliable income}
    Sucking on it what a shame {He watches a customer suck on a glass dick}
    Another, motherfucker drained {The addicted customer drains his wallet}
    That's what you get I warned you all {That he warned them that eventually the addiction consumes}
    Just add it up to my toll {Since they didn't heed, he'll take their profits anyway}

    I get a kick outta this {Entertained at watching the addicts}
    Watch you bawl*** like a bitch {A person who begs and begs and presses and pushes to get their fix}
    You'll get it you'll get it {I'll tease you a bit, but you know I will always sell it to you}
    You'll get yours motherfucker ain't no lie {Be patient, I'm not lying}

    I wanna break you {I'm considering taking you off of it for your own good}
    Get off the rocket ride man {You get too high, it's gotta stop sometime}
    I can't even fake it {I can't pretend that I'm not affected by how your addiction affects me}
    I'll say it again {I'm warning you again}
    You're on a downward slide my friend {You party too much, stop before you lose everything}

    So I hear they call it killing the fly {When you sell something addictive you know your customer's can't get off of eventually}
    I can't hear it I might be blind {The dealer turns a blind eye, he tries to not let it bother him}
    That's what you get I warned you all {That he warned them that eventually the addiction consumes}
    Just add it up to my toll {Toll as in the amount of people he's ensnared and the money he receives based off of their addiction}

    General Comment:between the first verse and chorus, there's some talking going on - what is he saying? sounds like he's ending it with "kick ass", but aside from that I can't understand it. Any clues?

    General Comment:"Sucking on it what a shame
    Another, motherfucker drained"

    It sounds like smoking, and, like the quote from "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest", the spliff/bong sucked out of the motherfucker mentioned above.

    "I wanna break you
    Get off the rocket ride man"

    He wants to break someone of a habit? Or just fuck them up because they're so stupid for fucking their life up? Get off the rocket ride, meaning stopping the rocket ride of being a stoner.

    Not that it matters, but I put it to you all that people wouldn't call other people stoners if they didn't continue to smoke. Whether it's addictive in any way or not is irrelevant, they keep going, so the debate in here about marijuana being addictive is pure sentiment.

    I don't care if you think I'm wrong, at least explain to me why ;)

    General Comment:"Marijuana has not been confirmed to be physically addictive, unlike nicotine, alcohol and even caffeine, nor has it been proven to have any long-term maleficent effects."

    As for the song, I think it's about getting revenge on all the fucks who've had it coming for a long time.

    General Comment:It's not addictive, it's the tobacco you roll it with that's addictive.

    General Comment:yeah, i've had a bunch of friends that get pissed off and say 'nooo, its not addictive'... - that itself seems to me a pretty good sign they are - yeah, its not physically addicting, and yeah they like the feeling, but theres no stopping unless they go to rehab - and then they fuck up their lives, and keep smoking, keep getting caught, keep going down - just about all my friends do it cause we live in a shit small town with nothing better to do, and they're never going to go anywhere cause of it - someone i care dearly about does, and she can't stop, and doesn't want to, and thinks that its not a lot if its not every day, and i worry, but its none of my business, right? - another friend stopped for a month and couldn't stand it any longer and returned - weed IS addictive, maybe not literally addicting, but since when the fuck do you believe everything people tell you... just wait till you all your friends can't stop, even when its ruining their life, and all thats left is denial, then you'll see its addictive... but whatever, their life, right? yeah, i've had a lot of trouble trying to decide whether UO is pro or con drugs, at first glance my stoner friends are all 'LOOK, THEY TALK ABOUT DRUGS!!! AWESOME!" but theres a certain element of sarcasm about the drugs if you dig deeper into the lyrics i believe... does anyone know if the band's broken up? i haven't heard anything for ages, its a shame, bands release debuts with tons of potential, then break up... hope they didn't, think they have nice future ahead...

    General Comment:Marijuana is not physically addictive, but it is mentally, much like cigarettes. It takes only 48 hours to become unaddicted to cigs, but mentally you may feel you need it the rest of your life. In any case, I agree it's about someone who kicked the habit, and is watching all his friends' lives be run by it. I myself have a bunch of friends like that, who used to be really intelligent, but shit-canned it because they love the feeling.
