Lyrics for Drunk Kid Catholic as interpreted by I Saw Star Wars

Drunk Kid Catholic Lyrics
The drunk kids, the Catholics
They’re all about the same
They’re waiting for something
Hoping to be saved
Well, I have been happy the past couple days
Just thinking of the women who’ve taken your place
And every night I think I certainly won't ever sleep sober or alone
And then suddenly it occurs to me
I've slept alone before you
And so I pour myself the stiffest drink that my stomach can stand
And convince myself to lay back down again
I’m gonna lay back down, I’m gonna lay back down again
The drunk kids, the Catholics
They're all about the same
They’re waiting for something
Hoping to be saved
The drunk kids, the Catholics
They're all about the same
They’re waiting for something
Hoping to be saved
The drunk kids, the Catholics
They're all about the same
They’re waiting for something
Hoping to be saved
They crawl from the oceans
To paint in the caves
But I’m working all weekend
I need to get paid
They crawl from the oceans
To paint in the caves
But I’m working all weekend
I need to get paid
They crawl from the oceans
To paint in the caves
But I’m working all weekend
I need to get paid
They crawl from the oceans
To paint in the caves
But I’m working all weekend
I need to get paid

It has always reminded me of something that would be sang in Peanuts...if they ever touched on alcohol and religion...

I don't think this song is about catholics being drunks. I think it has more to do with the fact that most people drink and believe in God for solace. They want to believe that there is something that can save them. Religion is a forced addiction - like alcohol - people keep on going back, week after week, hoping to finally find that something to set them free.

I agree with Iggy, this song isn't just about drunk catholics. I think he's saying people try to fine hope in something that might not really being saving them at all... great song, great song.

aw nuts. i took someone's name. haha. i heart conor. i wanted him to come to my birthday but it didn't work. hm. well... this song... is everything. it says a lot, about a lot. i agree with iggy as well... it's about so much more than being a drunk catholic (though if you are, who can blame you?) religion is stifling and addicting.. especially catholisism... how are you supposed to get out of it alone? also.. this song is surely about conor. think about it.

this is an amazing song. i didn't think it was about drunk catholics at all... i thought he was talking about how they both are looking for something to be saved... comparing them- not combinding them. i don't know. amazing song though.

keep rocking,
abbey

Well i totally agree with iggy and the rest of you. Conor means so much things in his music and he does us all a favor and puts everything that we can possibly feel in songs which makes bright eyes great. As for drunk kids and catholics. I LOVE THIS SONG. It something to sing when your drunk with your friends and arguing about religion (Thats not the meaning of the song though..wait you might never know)... Cool thanks Conor!

Being from the Omaha area, and knowing what school Conor attended...
I think this song is saying a lil bit about his high school which was a private prep school...that many people despise around here, lol.
