Don't worry about a thing
cause every little thing is gonna be alright
don't worry about a thing
every little thing is gonna be alright

Rise up this morning
smiled with the rising sun
three little birds
pitch by my door step
singing sweet songs
of melodies pure and true
saying, this is my message to you:

Song Meaning:Three Little Birds is full of Christian ideology. There are three birds representing The Trinity (God) which sing sweet melodies that are "pure and true". Their message is not to worry. Read Matthew 6:25-27. Jesus talks about not to worry and and uses "birds" as the example of creatures that do not worry. Christ was found to have been risen from death in the morning. The singer rose up in the morning and smiled with the "rising sun" (Rising Son). Whether it was intentional or not, there are too many coincidences for this song not to represent Christ.

General Comment:I couldn't believe it the other day - after hearing this song, and loving it, for so many years amongst Mr. Marley's work, I just heard it for the first time - in it's meaning.
Bob Marley was a gift to the world. To me, he was sharing something that happened, that can happen to anyone except we often don't notice.
Something from nature/an aspect of God, the 3 birds arrived at his house, probably during a time of uncertainty in his life, and he received a divine message in their song, to let him know that everything is going to be alright. That we all go through difficulties, and we may all be tested with problems which are all a learning experience, and maybe if we listen and learn and do, everything will be alright.
He was just expressing being touched by this realization, in the simple but powerful arrival and message through the song of the birds.
When I was pregnant with my daughter and due to have her at the age of 41, I was very concerned that she would be a healthy baby. One morning after leaving my apartment in Manhattan and going outside to the street, a butterfly came and landed on my very pregnant tummy. I couldn't believe it. I then continued on to my workplace. Along the way I walk by the Hudson River on the Jersey side. And then unbelievably, another butterfly landed on my tummy in exactly the same spot.
I felt this was very special, and in a similar way, the divine power of God was reaching out to me to say the same thing.
I don't want to go on and on, but we can receive messages from anywhere at any time.
Marijuana has nothing to do with it.
Bob, I love you, as I love Princess Diana, Michael Jackson and anyone else who uses life for embettering others.

General Comment:LOLs Bob was a Rasta man, its a christian sect. 3 little birds, maybe his version of the father, son, and holy ghost....the 3 little birds are I and I ..Ja man. I love Bob he is so simple and easy to understand, he lost himself in his gift...and so will live on forever.

General Comment:An interesting note is that in Hindu chanting, the words are chanted in specific tones/melodies which were discovered by the ancients as they listened to birds singing. Truly, their melodies are pure and true, and they are at the foundation of the oldest religion's tradition.

General Comment:I agree with some of the other comments. The song is very simple but packs a lot of meaning. Three little birds providing a message - pure and true. Every little thing is going to be all right. To me, it's the Trinity sending the message.

General Comment:As we all know, Bob marley was christian.
He believed in the Bible, and the Trinity: Father, Son, and the Holy SPirit(ghost)
This song is called Three Little Birds because Bob Marley is alluding to the Trinity.
Three birds are: God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit.
These three figures "sing sweet songs of melodies pure and true", and convey to him "don't worry about a thing". Bob Marley thinks that the Trinity can save one from fear and worry.
Otherwise, why would he have named the song "Three Little Birds", instead of "Don't worry" or "Be Happy"???

General Comment:3 little birds are actually angels. the last line in the song goes.. this is my message to you.. the following song on the exodus album is.. ONE LOVE ONE HEART LETS GET TOGETHER AND FEEL ALRIGHT. (thats the message of the angels)

try to look at the whole body of work rather then just one song on the album cos they usually all link together some how.. kinda like scenes in a movie.. ohh and the previous song is turn your lights down low ( night time) and the now rise up this morning smile with the rising son (next day/ morning)

General Comment:Okay, whether this is about drugs or not, (which I don't think it's directly related to getting stoned, I think getting stoned relates to this song.)
This song explains it all, mellowness in life and deciding that everything will be alright in the end.
And of course, Bob Marley's way to kick back is smoking a blunt. But I don't think that was the ACTUAL topic of this song. As I said, I think it relates to the song, but the song is not directly reffering to pot.
Think about it, it's pretty obvious.
