Stir it up little darling, stir it up
Come on baby come on and stir it up little darling, stir it up
It's been a long long time since I've got you on my mind
And now you are here
I say it's so clear
To see what we can do, honey, just me and you

Come on and stir it up, little darling, stir it up
Come on baby come on and stir it up little darling, stir it up
I'll push the wood, I'll blaze your fire
Then I'll satisfy your heart's desire
Said I'll stir it up, yeah, ev'ry minute, yeah
All you got to do is keep it in, baby
And stir it up, little darling, stir it up
Come on and stir it up, oh, little darling, stir it up, yeah

Oh, will you quench me while I'm thirsty?
Come and cool me down when I'm hot?
Your recipe, darling, is so tasty
And you sure can stir your pot
So stir it up, little darling, stir it up
Come on and stir it up, oh, little darling, stir it up
Come on and stir it up, oh, little darling, stir it up

General Comment:I used to not think much of the song, you know, like what the true meaning of it was.

Then I heard the acoustic version, from the album Grooving Kingston 12, and it's a truly beautiful song. Like everyone else said, it's about love. The pot is the woman.

General Comment:the great thing about music is that it can be interpreted in different ways..........even in ways the artist did not intend..............

i could not imagine this song being about anything other than sex............and arranged in a brilliant way............if you had to stretch i mean really stretch........you could infer stirring up things politically..................but i agree.............put this song on..........and somebody's clothes are coming off.....

General Comment:This song suggests Marley is trying to encourage an ex-lover to make love to him again

"It's been a long long time since I've got you on my mind"

    Where as he also says

"All you got to do is keep it in, baby"

Maybe this is sumthin that happened in their past relationship, her not keeping it in? Maybe hes just reminiscing of a love he once had, then saying he wants it all over again, its very confident the way he speaks about the sex...

And about the whole "its about weed" theory, sounds miles out to me... Maybe people just wana believe that cus its marley and hes rastafarian... Y'know, sweeping generalisations?

General Comment:Ooooh, I LOVE this song. *melts into a puddle* I personally think of it as a song about love and seduction, with just a little bit of sexual innuendo thrown in. ;-) Bob is TEH MAN OMGYES. heh!

General Comment:This song is about love, more specifically seduction and not the physical act of sex. The whole song is just a metaphor depicting a relationship of two people who are stupid for each other. I don't think it was written with the intention of having a literal meaning, but then again I have no idea what Bob Marley was doing. Either way if this song can't put a smile on your face, I don't know what your glitch is.
