Sun is shining, the weather is sweet
Make you want to move your dancing feet
To the rescue, here I am
Want you to know, y'all, where I stand

(Monday morning) here I am
want you to know just if you can
(Tuesday evening) where I stand
(Wednesday morning)
Tell myself a new day is rising
(Thursday evening) get on the rise
A new day is dawning
(Friday morning) here I am
(Saturday evening) Want you to know just
Want you to know just where I stand

When the morning gathers the rainbow
Want you to know I'm a rainbow too
So, to the rescue here I am
Want you to know just if you can
Where I stand, know, know, know, know, know

We'll lift our heads and give Jah praises
We'll lift our heads and give Jah praises, yeah

Sun is shining, the weather is sweet
Make you want to move your dancing feet
To the rescue, here I am
Want you to know just if you can
Where I stand

(Wednesday morning) tell myself a new day is rising
(Thursday evening) get on the rise a new day is dawning
(Friday morning) here I am
(Saturday evening) want you to know just
Want you to know just where I stand

When the morning gathers the rainbow
Want you to know I'm a rainbow too
So to the rescue, here I am
Want you to know just if you can
Where I stand, know, know, know, know, know

We'll lift our heads and give Jah praises (repeat)
Sun is shining, the weather is sweet
Make you want to move your dancing feet
To the rescue, here I am
Want you to know just if you can
WHere I stand, no, no, no, no, where I stand
Sun is shining, sun is shining

My Interpretation:I think this song could be about slavery. The mentioning of the days could mean the days of hard labour and 'to the rescue here I am' refers too all his music in general about getting out of slavery. On a related note, I totally love the music it's like a strobe light effect but with music!

    Song Meaning:Bible Reference- Isaiah 58:8-11
When he says 'To the Rescue, Here I Am' he's speaking in first person as if he were god, who is our protection.(not claiming to be god but as for the listeners to get the message.) 'Where I Stand' God is Almighty and some dont understand that. But he's saying that everyday God is with us , Shining his Light(spirit) upon us. Genesis 9:13- ''I do set my bow(rainbow) in the cloud...'' God set his rainbow as a covenant between HIM an the earth, that all its inhabitants may know that it belongs to him, and that it is from him, which is a sign of him... And this clearly manifested when he says.''We'll lift our heads and give Jah praises.''

General Comment:This song is beautiful and yet so simple. I didn't really get the fuss about Bob Marley, yeah I get it Three Little Birds, Redemption Song and No Woman Cry are good and famous, but for me he wasn't nothing special. That is UNTIL I heard this song one night. It was in my ipod for some reason and it played at random...I ended up listening to it again and again until I feel asleep. It was so relaxing, so chill, so sweet--the beat, the sound, his amazing voice. Wow, now I understand how so many people are fans of his, he's completely different.

I'm seriously going to check out some more songs by him and the Wailers...I never felt what I felt while listening to a song before.

To me this song is full of hidden messages. Since I wasn't around during this generation I can only decode some of it. I think that Bob Marley is trying to give a bigger message. I think when he says "to the rescue here I am," he's telling his brothers he's there for them. "want you to know just if you can" I want you to know, but only if you can figure it out. "I'm a rainbow too." I'm a member of the rainbow tribe(which still exists). When he sings about the different days, I think he's trying to say, Monday morning, Tuesday evening, it doesn't matter what day of the week, he's still part of the rainbow. If you know about the rainbow tribe then you might understand the message. If your not then it's just a beautiful song with little to no meaning.

    General Comment:
Personally, I find this song to be very deep and mystical and think theres much more to it then just an amazing melody about a beautiful day. Rastafarian's smoke marijuana in the beleif that it will bring them to a higher spiritual conciousness, or closer to jah(god)(therefore get them 'high'). Its this is a great example of bob using light or the sun to represent this higher conciousness. I truly believe bob was on a higher plane of consciousness than most people and that he used his music to try and raise others to his level. I think he is trying to desperately awake or "rescue" the listener from "their sleep and slumber" or lack of conciousness, and show them, "If they can"... "just where he stands".

Beautiful music and nothing short of brilliant artwork.
