Under the evening stars i walk
The smell of cool, damp earth beneath my feet
On a summer night, In the Orchard

My car is parked down, side of the road
Over the mountains, the red moon glows
Soon the summer will be over, In the Orchard

I've been to this place so many times
Down roads and rows of dreams in my mind
I'm walking through the trees, In the Orchard

Still I see it, when I close my eyes
When sleep's about to come after a restless night
I go there in my dreams, Back to the Orchard

The seasons of my lofe, I watched them pass
The blossomes of spring fall, leaving only winter's naked branch
I remember you and me, In the Orchard

As the days of youth, slip farther from my grasp
Still it haunts me, like a song i cant forget
And now frost covers the ground, In the Orchard

And when the spark of life is almost gone
The seasons slow then stop, and I'll see spring no more
It calls me into forever, In the Orchard

The seasons of my life, I watch them pass
The blossomes of spring fall, leaving only winter's naked branch; into forever... In the Orchard

General Comment:I love that the sound is countryish because I grew up in a country-town where there are a lot of orchards and vineyards. so I feel like the fact that he made this song sound country-like enhances the purpose of the song. I love this song so so so much!

General Comment:This is one of my favorite songs. A memory, especially one that is from youth, are something all of us remember with growing fondness especially as life begins to progress from the season of youth (spring) to that of winter (old age). Classic use of a well known poetic metaphor, and one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard.

General Comment:This song hinges on a memory he had when he was in his teens of the orchard near his home where he lay with his (then) girlfriend on a long summers night. He remembers it all so vividly in his head, of his car parked by the side of the road and the smell of the dew on the orchard floor making the earth damp and the rows of apple tree's stretching out before them. Everybody has a vivid memory where everything seemed perfect and this is his.
As his life moves on as it inevitably does, he remembers that night in the orchard and compares it too his life moving quickly by and out of his grasp. I think he passed the orchard regularly and saw it change through the seasons at various points in his life and he beautifully compares this to life itself.
This is his happy place and when he closes his eyes for the last time, this is where he will be going.

I absolutely love this song, although I feel quite emotional when listening to it as I have similar memories from my chilhood that I hold on too and think about from time to time as life fly's by!

General Comment:This is the best Tiger Army song I've heard. The lyrics and melody are both so beautiful and it makes you feel so peaceful and melancholic.... And it really is a great funeral song :)

General Comment:Nick said that the 'Orchard' is a metaphor for the place he grew up. I believe that he feels the same sentiments as robotnik: life goes too fast. Their are of number of lines in TA songs that are on that subject of life passing by and whatnot.

This song is probably all metaphorical for different memories and emotions he went through in this place that he grew up in. And what better setting to use in this early country-ish song then and Orchard? I personally like TA's country like songs. They fit in with their style and are just so peaceful and full of imagery. At least this one is.
