Ohhhh, oh, oh, oh, ohhh.
It must have been cold there in my shadow,
To never have sunlight on your face.
You were content to let me shine, that's your way.
You always walked a step behind.

So I was the one with all the glory,
While you were the one with all the strength.
A beautiful face without a name for so long.
A beautiful smile to hide the pain.

Did you ever know that you're my hero,
And everything I would like to be?
I can fly higher than an eagle,
For you are the wind beneath my wings.

It might have appeared to go unnoticed,
But I've got it all here in my heart.
I want you to know I know the truth, of course I know it.
I would be nothing without you.

Did you ever know that you're my hero?
You're everything I wish I could be.
I could fly higher than an eagle,
For you are the wind beneath my wings.

Did I ever tell you you're my hero?
You're everything, everything I wish I could be.
Oh, and I, I could fly higher than an eagle,
For you are the wind beneath my wings,
'cause you are the wind beneath my wings.

Oh, the wind beneath my wings.
You, you, you, you are the wind beneath my wings.
Fly, fly, fly away. You let me fly so high.
Oh, you, you, you, the wind beneath my wings.
Oh, you, you, you, the wind beneath my wings.

Fly, fly, fly high against the sky,
So high I almost touch the sky.
Thank you, thank you,
Thank God for you, the wind beneath my wings.

General Comment:A hymn to selfishness - "I'm a big star and you are nobody. But take it from me, it has been a lot of fun standing on your face for the last thirty years."

A DESPICABLE song. Almost as nasty and vicious as 'My Way'.

General Comment:like a lot of people who commented on this song, i had a friend die and his older sister's best friend sang this song at his wedding. It was so sad but so touching cause this song is EXACTLY what he was. He gave everyone the glory and lifted people up so much. He had the most beautiful smile and never failed to show it. I think a lot of people wish they could tell him that he was their hero, i know he was mine.

General Comment:This song is written in first person to show that we all start out selfish, thinking only about ourselves. We take people for granted, and the ones that truly love us never leave.

The song is about a person who loves and cares for you so much that they are willing to put your happiness above yours.

"It might have appeared to go unnoticed,
but I've got it all here in my heart." --
That means that I've taken you for granted, but I've always loved you.... even though my actions never showed that.

    I am selfish.
    I say I don't need you.
But in reality, I do because you support me in so many ways.

General Comment:My granda died in January. This song was played at his funeral. i cant bring myself to listen to the song, but i can read the lyrics. He was my hero and if it werent for him i wouldnt be the person i am today. seeing him smile drove me to do the best i can at everything just to make him proud.

General Comment:We all have heroes. I don't think any of us can make it alone. It's a teacher, a mother, father, friend, the people we share our lives with.

General Comment:this song makes me cry from the very first sentence . . . "it must have been cold there in my shadow" ~ a friend who is willing to watch you shine and be happy for you while they go through their own private hell. just thinking about the movie beaches makes my sad =)

General Comment:This is a great song to be played at a funeral service. My dad just passed last Saturday, he always wanted this song played, so we played it for him. I really wish I could have sang it for him instead, but I was just too tore up over his loss and my mom really needed me there with her.
