this song is one of my favorite songs in the whole world ( and thats saying alot since i love sooo many songs ) this song can make me really happy or make me really depressed, but it just means alot 2 me b/c it gives me hope for the future

Well basically this song, to me, means that no matter what you are doing, no matter how bad it is... If you are happy, it doesn't matter... Cause some day you'll be able to run away with the ones you love... Nothing will ever be perfect, oh well that's life...

THis is one of my most favorite songs in the world and one of my favorite songs by everclear who are one of my favorite bands in the world.... I agree with john that it is about running away from life with some one you love because your life was not perfect and will never be perfect.

this song is one of few that make me cry,in a good way.
the line "5 miles outside of vegas 5 years down the line,we got married in the desert in the sunshine"that part makes me happy,even though he and his wife broke up,i feel bad for him,but i just love that line

This song is about finding hope in the places you least expect it. It shows how location and money have no real bearing on happiness. Life always boils down to being happy; So find the person who loves you back and everything will fall into place. ;0)

i agree w/ you guys who said that its about running away and stuff, but it has more to it, like when he says learning how to smile, or to climb back up again, its him saying that they were at really low points in there life and now they've turned that around and our happy for the first time in a long time. as if they've forgotton how to be happy or to smile i guess u could say. this is my favorite song by everclear, its just so powerful and everything.

One of my favorite lines from the song is:
"I can handle all the hell that happens every day,

Great song, and a great feeling when you can find someone like that.

This may not relate to everclear themselves, but it seems to me that it could relate to being in rehab. When they say that there is no perfect place and he knows that, but he is now learning how to smile and that life can be good, or they could run away from wherever they are getting help and leave the place behind and start new.

this song reminds me of I will buy you a new life. Alexakis said he wrote that song when he and his wife had these visions of their life being perfect once they got rich. but then they realized money can't buy everything. I think this song is about people thinking they want these things and that life CAN be perfect. Nothing can be perfect.

This is one of those songs...The ones I have absolutely no idea how to explain, but they affect me more than I would have ever thought... It has lines that tend to make me laugh, then there are parts that just make me want to cry, I dunno...but, the whole song sticks out because it keeps mentioning running away, but they always end up someplace far away and exotic from where they were before...It cracks me up because the go from vegas to Philly to Pheonix

This song is so good. The composition is genious, because he sings his highs and lows with different volume, making it so there's a deliberate emotional effect. But for sure it's about persevering through circumstance and mistakes. And it's a well written, romantic song with a sexy part whispered done by his girlfriend(at the time, and it was two a.m.), the "Baby let's just run away". So hot.

yea it seemed that He did some crystal.. and other shit among that ahhaha but he had his love with him the whole time.. its awesome.. I mean as long as i had the love of my life with me there would always be hope :-D

It's about when you seem to forget how to be happy, because it seems like everything's wrong. But this girl is "teaching" him how to smile. She makes him happy when everything's wrong. That's what I get out of it, anyway.

I love this song! Everclear is one of the best bands ever because they just have such an interesting and different sound from everyone else, and their lyrics are always meaningful and entertaining at the same time. Anyway, i think this song is all about just going with the flow and living for the memories. Like even if you're at a suckish place in your life, eventually you'll be able to laugh about it. Theres no perfect place, so theres no use in wishing for one. Sometimes you just have to grin and bear it. And if you're with someone you love, anything can be made alright
