I'm sure everyone agree with me if I say that the lyrics makes this song. I've listened to this song many years ago, but I didn't know english that well so I didn't even thought about the lyrics. Some years later, I discoverd them, and the song became so great. Yes, Bad Religion Babe, they really know how to put reality into words. One of my truly favourites.

If there ever was to only be one Bad Religion song to be preserved forever, this would be it. Not because of the musical quality (though it does kick ass ;) ) but because its so true.

This Song is really good. The lyrics are very good writen, they limit themselves to whats necesary and they donīt say nothing that isnīt true and they donīt fall in a extreme anarchist point of view.
By the way, i think this song says how good Bad Religion is making Punk Rock music and the respect we should have to this greats old bands.

no kuffs, when he says "this is just a punk rock song" he's mocking the way in which most people view punk rock: simplistic, and "not-to-be-taken-seriously". there is so much wisdom to be found in punk rock(generally speaking) and yet people have this "dont-take-it-seriously" attitude towards punk rock. Here he is talking truth about the global status quo yet most people wont listen to what he is saying because "this is JUST a punk rock".

i hate when people rant about how much they love this song. And it should not be the song remembered by bad religion! not even close. Most of the kids who are crazy about this song just like it because it says PUNK ROCK. you think, "man thats totaly cool hes talkin about punx and shit". i think it might be my least favorite BR song just because stupid kids post stuff such as the 17 some posts above this one.

The point isn't that it says "PUNK ROCK" or whatever. He's saying that people here punk rock and think of feel good bullshit like Blink 182 and Sum 41, and Bad Religion or any real punk isn't supposed to be feel good.

Also, whoever said "sorrow" has the most meaning doesn't listen to enough BR. Sorrow is good, but a lot of thier other songs are more meaningful than Sorrow, I think.

i seriously am astounded that you can argue about which bad religion song would be the one preserved.. there can be no contest, no winner (not least 'cause it just defies the point of some great songwriting) because they have so many truly superior songs that it is impossible to choose any fewer than about twenty when pushed...

i think that the "this is just a punk rock song" means that this is their attempt to make people realize the injustice and greed in the world, and at the same time an attempt to change the world, but they know that's it's kind of futile, hence the

I agree with WrinkledPhole, its definetly about how the world is, and how punk is a protest music, showing only reality, and it is still taken to be simplistic bullshit that just screams for no reason (Tipper "The whore" Gore's view of punk rock music)
