Lyrics for O' Rourke's, 1:20 A.M. as interpreted by minix

O' Rourke's, 1:20 A.M. Lyrics
It's different when you're lonely
The whole world's in love
Holding hands between bar stools
And you're holding your tongue

Hold on
You're so fucked up, so fickle
Isn't this what you want?
So simple, so single

But it's different when you're helpless
When the bars close their doors
Growing hostile toward your waitress
Those extra tips went ignored

It's different because you're desperate
Begging mercy on the sidewalk
To a sea of last callers
(Keep the conversation quick and keep them interested)

You're different and they sense it
Your eyes can't disguise it
So glassy, half empty
Ready to spill

Hold on
Please don't leave yet
I can't go home alone
It doesn't go over so well

So hold on just a little longer
At least through the night
At least until the morning

Hold on
Hold on to me
I can hardly stand
Much less the sight of myself

So hold on
Hold on tight, dear
Put your foot on the gas
Get me the fuck out of here

It is what it is about... Tim Kasher said something about it in an interview, how after all the other bars close, it's open like 10 minutes more, so everyone from the other bars go there to get one more drink.... it's about trying to get someone to go home with you, anyone to go home with you, because you are drunk and lonely..

This song is one of my favorites on Black Out - I love all of them, but this one grabbed me. I think the line "holding hands between barstools, and you're holding your tongue" is .. the only thing that comes to mind to describe it is just a beautiful image.

i dunno but to me it seems like the guy is at the bar with this girl (say, his ex) who he doesnt really care for (you're so fucked up, so fickle), but he doesnt want to go back home alone, so he's trying to talk her into coming with him. yeah.

"Your eyes can't disguise it... so glassy, half empty. Ready to spill."

"I can hardly stand- much less the sight of myself."

Tim Kasher is a clever, clever man.

to coheedandcambria, it's obviously not like that because it's in second person as are a good deal of the songs Tim writes

Yeah, I believe that he's actually talking to himself at the beginning this song.

Like, he's watching the other couples and he's feeling bitter and jealous, but then he says to himself, "Well, isn't this what you wanted? To be single?"

One of my favorite songs on Black Out.

It is that a man, Kasher or otherwise, is in Lincoln at O'Rourke's Bar. He has been devestated by an emotional loss and doesn't want to spend another night alone. He needs someone to love, even if it's only for a night. People can see that he's changed. He used to think the single life was what he wanted, but he's not sure anymore.

Exactly what it seems, the desperation that comes along with that the last call for drinks and for finding someone to go home with. Pefect portrayal of these bittersweet emotions.

Well I really dont know who the band is unfortunetly, but I really like the lyrics wish I could actually hear the song for my self then it would have more meaning. Thought it was about some one who had a lover that he didnt like then didnt want to be alone and was lost because he wanted some one to love him back didnt want to be alone.

ahh, that first line hits my soft spot.
and when he says "you're so fucked up, you're so fickle." it reminds me of how complicated my ex is.
arghhhk.
it's different cuz you're desperate.

alright this is what this is about some of you are close..

kasher was married but it ended a divorce and hes like what the fuck i wanted to be single

i didnt think it would hurt this bad

and also all of black out is about the divorce and trying to find some sort of comfort in all this

which leads to more drinking you know "black out" from too much

pretty simplistic , o.k. cd
