I love this song so much!...in particular a version which has the bass and guitar taken out of the mix for about 20 seconds after the fast bit starts so that it is just Kurt singing and dave furiously drumming...it sounds so awesome! Try and find it on a file-sharing program like WinMX.

On which CD is this? Incesticide? You know what's shit? Getting Nirvana CD IN RSA! The only have "nevermind" or "unplugged". I have 4 but I'm missing, Incesticide and Muddy banks of wikwash(???? title????). :( How's that where you live?

This was never on an official Nirvana release. it was put on a tribute CD called (12 Songs for Greg Sage and The Wipers". Yes it is a cover. The best versions of this song are 1) The track off Outcesticide 1 which was (I guees you casn say) remixed, and the live version he did at Reading Festival 92.

I love this song. The lyrics are great. Nirvana did a good Wipers cover. I don't know which version I like it more on, but either way, its a good song. I just like the lyrics...unperfect and haunting...

I like the raw sound too it. The complete opposite of the sound on Nevermind (love the songs, just the production bothered me). But what can i say, Nirvana kicks ass anyways.

hm btw. this song was also released on a cd called "hormoaning"....but i'm not sure where and when it was released. it has similar artwork as nevermind tho.
mine is a japan import, so..... that's all i know....nah.....

this song never made sense to me whatsoever.
and who cares...

I listened to this song in a drugged out depression, I was feeling antisocial, I didn't want to see anyone at all, I didn't want ANYTHING, but in desperate need of some sort of change. Demention seven, anything, just not this.

This seems quite clear to me. "straight as an arrow" means normal. But the subject has some kind of defect which makes him "not so straight". That's what makes him unable to fit in normal crowd: he is a reject, anti-social and loner (solo).

cold, cold morning"

Normally noone stands on the stairs (especially when it's cold morning). People either go upstairs or downstairs. So in this case it adds to person's weirdness.

sign of paranoia

"mayday, mayday"
cry for help

"gonna leave this reigon
they'll take me with them"

his mental disorder leads to insanity

"Dimension 7" could also be "Dementia 7" which makes it more logical. (and i think it is dementia, though in original song by Wipers they sing dimension)

or it could be demension 7 since thats what he says and you know it could be a sci-fi hardcore song because it is and it could be about an alien and he could be saying mayday because something is wrong with his ship and he could be leaving this region in his spaceship, but im just guessing based on the fact that thats what the words to the song say

I don't know what Greg Sage meant when he wrote the song but to me personally it's like listening about my relationship with my brother and the rest of my family.

The first verse being about how my brother is 'straight' as in perfect and I'm not, me being the defect, reject and so going towards anti-social because everyone would rather hang out with him than me.

In the 2nd stanza it's like me standing on the stairs after a night of my refuge thinking I don't want to go back home where I'm only the underdog.

I want to leave becuase I'm not happy and the other people who actually like me are willing to take me with them. Demention 7 would mean to me that another palce, or death if demention 7 means death, would be better than staying where I am now.

Ok I wrote this really quick and all and might have over dramatized the story a little but hey, it only makes it more interesting.. or something... hmm..

im a pretty new nirvana fan cuz im only 16,but this song is pretty good and its 1 of their lesser known songs. P.S. I LOVE FOO FIGHTERS THATS THE ONLY REASON I STARTED LISTENING TO NIRVANA
