Honestly I can't remember (teen dreams)
All my teenage feelings
And the meanings
They seemed too see-through
To be true

All the whos are there
But the whys (but the whys)
Whys are unclear (are unclear)

Picture this:
The long awaited
Sickening kiss
How does it feel (explain)
To know (how)
We've re-written history (these things change)
Despite the complicated
Beginning to all of this
Honestly?

General Comment:EMO means EMOTIONAL. which is ALL music!! INDIE means INDEPENDENT which is all music that isn't POP, which means POPULAR. so i hate calling bands emo. and indie is a huge category. I would call anything by the Kinsellas and their brother bands Progressive/Indie/Math/Rock. anything that is breaking the mold is progressive to me. they were nothing like the pop music that was out at the time, so they're indie. and i have to respect the amazing guitar playing that goes on in these bands and call them Math rock because of the intricate, doodling guitar parts. and most importantly: they just ROCK. that's my opinion. this song is really good too. this one and "i'll see you when we're both not so emotional" are by far my favorite on the album. the lyrics are pretty straight forward when you actually know what they are.

General Comment:The entire self-titled album is very nostalgic and bittersweet, and although I consider the album extremely cheesy, it strikes a chord with me; and this is one of my favorite songs off of the album. I would have to agree with Shutup Vanity. Looking back on my teenage years, confusion on finding my place in the world seems to be one of the feelings that was permeated throughout, and I think this song describes that perfectly with only a few words. "The whos are there, but the whys are unclear" meaning that you remember all the people who played a part in your life during those years (even if it was insignicant) but you're not sure why certain awkward situations happened or why these people played some lasting part in your life. The last stanza that starts out about re-writing history is I think, suggesting how we may misinterpret our memories of teenage life, or how we can't even comprehend about how certain events/people played parts in our lives during those years. On a sidenote, all of you should check out Cap'n Jazz (who Kinsella played with before American Football). On another sidenote, how about those weird guitar tunings for American Football? I know I was surprised.

    General Comment:White Tide.

You are a pretentious dumbass. Seriously, The Get Up Kids aren't emo? Hilarious. They may be a bit on the mainstream side, but they are indeed emo. Don't talk shit unless you know it buddy.

Anyways, this song pretty much owns. One of my favorite American Football songs behind Never Meant.
