Pray God you can cope.
I stand outside this woman's work,
This woman's world.
Ooh, it's hard on the man,
Now his part is over.
Now starts the craft of the father.

I know you've got a little life in you yet.
I know you've got a lot of strength left.
I know you've got a little life in you yet.
I know you've got a lot of strength left.

I should be crying, but I just can't let it go.
I should be hoping, but I can't stop thinking

Of all the things I should've said,
That I never said.
All the things we should've done,
Though we never did.
All the things I should've given,
But I didn't.

Oh, darling, make it go,
Make it go away.

Give me these moments back.
Give them back to me.
Give me that little kiss.
Give me your hand.

(I know you have a little life in you yet.
I know you have a lot of strength left.
I know you have a little life in you yet.
I know you have a lot of strength left.)

I should be crying, but I just can't let it go
I should be hoping, but I can't stop thinking

Of all the things we should've said,
That we never said.
All the things we should've done,
Though we never did.
All the things that you needed from me.
All the things that you wanted for me.
All the things that I should've given,
But I didn't.

Oh, darling, make it go away.
Just make it go away now.

General Comment:This song meant different things, but today I got a different interpretation. Our views change as our situation does so mine is as follows:

I am a mother of 3, my youngest born just 6 months ago.
I recently was diagnosed with an fatal heart disease.

There is no way of begining to imagine how to cope with the thought of leaving my loved ones behind...Pray God you can cope...

I've been to hell and back in my life... a womans struggle

The only way forward is to let the Craft of the Father begin. Only God can see me through.

it's my husband's words to me.

    And it hurts like hell.

I'm dying, so best I say what needs to be said.

My Opinion:I didn't know the exact meaning of this song, but the first time I heard it was a few days after losing my pre-mature daughter. The tears I cried when I heard this song were the tears I couldn't cry during all of the chaos. This is a beautiful song, I still get teary-eye every time I hear it. A Woman's Work, it's something else, that's for sure.

Song Meaning:The song was written expressly for the movie 'She's Having a Baby' by John Hughes and sung by Kate Bush.
If you listen to the rhythm of the song there's a slow, steady build up to the anguished 'make it go away'...much like breathing through a contraction build up and the pushing during labor. It's so obvious that this is about a man watching his wife give birth. He 'stands outside this woman's world, this woman's work'. Birth is the one true woman-only work! He encourages, 'I know you've got a little life in you yet, I know you've got a lotta strength left'...she's crying 'make it go away'. The entire movie is about a guy that isn't even sure he wants to be married, but he wakes up to the reality of what he really has when his wife suddenly has a difficult birth and he may lose them both. (He doesn't). The song captures the raw emotions of birth and possibility of death. Very powerful.

General Comment:to me this is about a woman suffering from cancer and the stuggles she faces. That's just my interpretation though, i guess also because i had to choreograph a dance to this and me and my partner chose to do it about a cancer victim and the support she needs from her partner. Its a very moving piece of music and by the end of the dance at our competition I was in tears and so was a lot of the audience .. just shows how truley powerful and inspiring this is.

Song Meaning:well this is the way I see it.

In a relationship that is in God's divine plan, it takes divine work. Both woman and man have to put in work, as well as God ("Now starts the craft of the father"). It could have been a perfect relationship from the get, but the ego got in the way i.ee. worldly things such as trama, resentment, distrust. To break down all of that, the woman must try to break through what is keeping him from fully trusting her. This takes a lot of energy,a lot of courage, and a lot of strength as he is probably hurting her deeply during this time. This process sometimes leads the person (the person who is trying to reach out to thim) to instead distrust them for all they have been through....or what SHE HAS BEEN THROUGH because of him.

Now that the man has experienced a breakthrough and wishes to reach out to hear, he has to instead work to BREAK DOWN HER WALLS..it can also be a long frustrating process...but like in any God centered relationship, God keeps you going in spite of the doubt.

When both work's completed, the work of GOD begins to bring them back to oneness. "Give me these moments, give them back to me" They make love and release the energy that they have kept back for so long.

This is truly the greatet song of all time.

General Comment:This song is so beautiful! My husband and I are expecting our first child, and this song brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it. Not only are we newlyweds, but we are farely young parents at 24 and 25, and I know that there are alot of things that we haven't been able to experience together yet. This song just reiterates some of those feelings. Don't get me wrong, we are thrilled about our new addition but this song really makes you think!

General Comment:Theres a movie called "Shes having a baby" from 1988 with Kevin Bacon. It's a movie about being married, from the mans perspective. In it is a scene towards the end of the movie where his wife is giving birth. Its a difficult delivery. I know the baby lives, don't remember if the wife lives. This scene was sent to Kate Bush and she wrote this song.
