You're Leaving me here and I want you to Know that I
I wanted you there you were the best thing in my life
Somehow I know someone is on the other side
You're turning me over, I'm letting you look all deep inside

Cellophane girl, playing a part in a cellophane world
Cellophane girl, see through me

Hello there girl, you leave a sweet taste in my mouth
On the edge of the world
She'd rather jump than just look down
You're Taking me under, you're leaving me dry
We're coming up with lies and lies, and lies yeah

Cellophane girl, playing a part in a cellophane world
Cellophane girl,(do you) see through me, see through me
(All the lights flashing around)See through me,
(Stars shine above your head) See through me
(Don't you give up just yet)

Leaving me here, I want you to know that I
I still want you here, because you are the best thing in my life

Cellophane girl,(you are) playing a part in a cellophane world
Cellophane girl,(do you) see through me, see through me
See through me, see through me

General Comment:i agree with nixolas.. the song says "somehow I know someone is on the other side, your turning me over..." meaning Someone else has taken her interest and shes leaving him for the other person

General Comment:i think Cellophane Girl was written before Best Thing.
Graham said he wrote CG when he was 17.

General Comment:I'm confused by the less than subtle similarities in lyrics between this song and Best Thing. Which came first?

General Comment:i think it's about a girl being fake around other people except her boyfriend. i'm probably way off, but whatever.

General Comment:ok so i met graham colton last summer at a show he did and i asked him what this song meant. he told me that he didn't know and that it didn't really have any special meaning, that it was just something he wrote when he was younger. so there you have it. from the artist himself this song has no specific meaning. still a good song though.

General Comment:that's all cute and everything neverenufrox.. and i hope you reunite with your girl. but this song is much deeper than missing someone. if you want shallow tunes like that.. listen to blink 182's "i miss you".. i agree with akelly to a degree.. i don't think it's so much that she isn't letting people decide what she should do so they CAN'T see through her.. i think it's about the guy who lost her because of another guy, and he sees through her lies and is the ONLY one who can really see who she REALLY is. cellophane is translucent.. meaning you can see through it.. as he can see through her.

General Comment:I somewhat agree with Nixolas, about her leaving him because of someone else but I think that she may be leaving him because she (or someone else in her life) thinks that the other man is better for her, so she's playing the part of what others want her to do hence the name, "Cellophane Girl", not seeing through the crap that everyone is giving her and being with the person that she really loves.

General Comment:I am sorry, but i think the last two comments are way off track. This song has more meaning than someone moving away. She is LEAVING him there. She left him, for someone else.
    somehow I know
someone is on the other side
she left him for someone else, and that is what happened to me, so i relate very well to this song. Not to mention it is great fun to play on the guitar!
