Lyrics for Bermuda Highway as interpreted by PLANES

Bermuda Highway Lyrics
Sometimes I walk around town looking at faces
Wondering why their bodies go to silly places
Walking past the carpet mills looking in and taking stills
Your ass it draws me in like a Bermuda highway

Don't carve me out
Don't let your silly dreams fall in between
The crack of the bed and the wall

Two times I fell asleep in a dirty basement
Snoozing in cobwebs and the cement
Sometimes I wonder why that meek guy got all the fame
Maybe I'm to blame for his short, bitter, fucked-up life

Don't carve me out
Don't let your silly dreams fall in between
The crack of the bed and the wall

I am extremely surprised this song has no comments.
It's really great. One of the most calming pieces of music I know of.

Hey Mr. Theo Reo I 'm really surprised too. This song's great...reminds me of good feelings. But what is it about ? In my opinion, that verse "Don't let your silly..." is an invite not to waste dreams , even if silly, could be?

i think, if anything, the chorus is just an invitation to not lose your childish sense of wonder.

to me this song is about the singer's yearning for something in his life.. and his disbelief that "that meek guy" achieved fame.

I think
"Sometimes I wonder why that meek guy got all the fame
Maybe I'm to blame for his short, bitter, fucked-up life"

is referring to one of his "dreams" that he didn't follow through with or pay attention to. He is responsible for the "short fucked up life" because he disregarded it instead of keeping track of his "silly dreams."

Is it really? They're both from the same state, and that was the only similarity I could find between them...

'sometimes i walk around town looking at faces
wondering why their bodies go to silly places'

i'm going for a stroll and thinking about what everyone else is thinking

'walking past carpet mills looking in and taking stills
your ass it draws me in like a bermuda highway'

i'm taking pictures with the nikon in my head and i am lost inside of it like it's the gosh darn bermuda triangle. or highway.

'don't carve me out'

don't you underestimate me now.

'don't let your silly dreams fall in between
the crack of the bed and the wall'

most people think what i love is ridiculous and i will not stop loving this ridiculous what.

'two times a fell asleep in a dirty basement
snoozing in cobwebs and the cement'

i let my brain forget about the ridiculous what love. twice.

'sometimes i wonder why that meek guy got all the fame
maybe i'm to blame for his short bitter fucked up life'

why did everyone like me when my brain fell asleep? that's kind of dumb. my bad dudes, that guy is dead now.

so...i've been hearing rumors from the greater midwestern united states region that my morning jacket frontman jim james sometimes goes by the alias of 'meat hook.'

any insights?

i think he's definitely clearly saying follow through with your dreams, even the silly ones, whatever it is it's what you wanna do so f'ing go for it. and "don't carve me out" i think means don't put me in a category just because of what you know about me and my life, he doesn't wanna be grouped with all the other artists or people that have the same career as him, cause he's his own person still. also maybe he's saying what he is or does now might not be what he is or does the rest of his life so don't label him one thing cause he can always change, he's not stuck with what he's doing during this period of his life. i think "that meek guy" might be a specific artist or artists in general who've been ruined or changed or died cause of the dark side of fame and maybe he feels like he got off easy cause he still has his own life and it hasn't been taken over by the media/fans/paparazzi, etc. so he's fortunate but could easily have been that guy.

I have no idea why this songs hits me in the gut. But, it does.... The more I listen to it the more it makes me cry. I think it is soooooooo beautiful. I love his voice and the tune. I guess it makes me remember to never give up hope and always have faith in your dreams and keep your child-like sense of wonder..... Even when you feel like you've just lost your best friend.

Great song, but am I the only one that thinks the first verse says:

"You eyes (not ass) still draw(s) me in like a Bermuda Highway"?
