You don't know how you met me
You don't know why
You can't turn around
And say goodbye

All you know is when I'm with you
I make you free
And swim through your veins
Like a fish in the sea

I'm singin' follow me
Everything is alright
I'll be the one to tuck you in at night
And if you want to leave I can guarantee
You won't find nobody else like me

I'm not worried
'Bout the ring you wear
'Cause as long as no one knows
Then nobody can care

You're feelin' guilty
And I'm well aware
But you don't look ashamed
And baby I'm not scared

I'm singin' follow me
Everything is alright
I'll be the one to tuck you in at night
And if you want to leave I can guarantee
You won't find nobody else like me

Won't give you money
I can't give you the sky
You're better off if you don't ask why

I'm not the reason that you go astray
We'll be alright
If you don't ask me to stay

Follow me
Everything is alright
I'll be the one to tuck you in at night
And if you want to leave I can guarantee
You won't find nobody else like me

You don't know how you met me
You don't know why
You can't turn around and
Say goodbye

All you know is when I'm with you
I make you free
And swim through your veins
Like a fish in the sea

I'm singin' follow me
Everything is alright
I'll be the one to tuck you in at night
And if you want to leave I can guarantee
You won't find nobody else like me

I'm singin' follow me
Everything is alright
I'll be the one to tuck you in at night
And if you want to leave I can guarantee
You won't find nobody else like me

I'm singin' follow me
Everything is alright
I'll be the one to tuck you in at night
And if you want to leave I can guarantee
You won't find nobody else like me

this song is most def. about heroin, its one of those songs u have to catch on to what hes sayin. its the heroin tellin the story how it has control over him... you dont know how you met me u dont know why(u dont remember why you started and why) you cant turn around and say goodbye(you cant quit, its hard) all you know is when im with you i make u free(you get your fix) and swim thru ur viens like a fish in the sea(its in ur system, and ur feelin good) you wont find nobody else like me(nothing is more important than gettin ur fix) imnot worried bout the ring wear (not even his wife can help him... even though thats the affair sounding part) cause as long as no one knows than nobody can care(if noone knows hes doing it than noone can be worried bout him) ur feeling guilty and im well aware(its tellin him it knows he wishes he never started) but u dont look ashamed and baby im not scared(he dont care tho cuz he wants his fix) just listen to the song closely

i think what the commenting slag is trying to say is: this is a dark dark song, cast in the devil's own forge and infused with death and evil. the winsome singer of this song might seem happy. he might tell you that "everything is alright", and that he'll be "the one to tuck you in at night". may i say - hah! for behind this jaunty rhyme is a subtle yet oh-so-sinister subtext.

mr. kracker is in fact an agent of dark forces we cannot hope to comprehend, hence the opening line, "you don't know how you met me". but need you know this at all? his name says it all; he would like nothing better than to krack you in his kavernous klaws. "i'm not worried 'bout the ring you wear", he pleads, "cause as long as no one knows then nobody can care". oh poor fool! as you can see, your rapid descent into the fiery pits of hell will be a lonely journey. "you're better off if you don't ask why ", he advises, further masking the full horror of his diabolical plans.

beware this man. he will woo you with his flirtatious devil-music, and will scream "follow me" until he has led you to the abyss sir slag so succinctly prophecised. tread with care.

Nothing else Uncle Kracker does is along the same lines of this song, which he himself called a one time homage to the Motown Scene. It just happened that this song, ended up becoming a hit single, the one that got his name mainstreamed.

As for the song itself, I would believe either or both theories, drugs or an affair. Then again isn't being with a drug addict sort of like being with someone who cheats?

It might be just me, but it could be dad and daughter. like it doesn't matter if you wear a ring, your still my baby girl, and like if she wants to leave, hes saying like go ahead, but no guy is gonna be as good as your old man. i know it can be interpereted as an affair, or drugs, but this is just my opinion

How in the world can you NOT see this song as being about Heroine? Ill break it down:

"You don't know how you met me You don't know why, you can't turn around and say good-bye All you know is when i'm with you I make you free And swim through your veins like a fish in the sea I'm singing...."

Okay in this verse he is talking about how he's not sure how he became addicted to the drug, meaning it could have been an accidental use, or a one time thing that lead to an addiction. Heroine is one of the most addicting drugs known to man, so therefore it is incredibly hard to quit. It relaxes the system and creates a sense of euphoria, which is what he means by i make you free, and swimming through your veins? Its injected directly into the blood stream.

Follow me Everything is alright I'll be the one to tuck you in at night And if you want to leave I can guarantee You won't find nobody else like me

He saying that as long as you stay addicted, you wont realize that you have a problem, you will continue using until it kills you. It is one of the strongest drugs around, therefore it would be hard to find something that could create the same emotions and feelings that heroine can.

I'm not worried 'bout the ring you wear Cause as long as no one knows Then nobody can care You're fellin' guilty And I'm well aware But you don't look ashamed And baby I'm not scared Im singin...

he is saying that the drug doesnt have emotions so therefore it wont know or care if you are married single, or if it tears aparrt your life. he is saying that what you do in your spare time, I>E> Heroine, is totally your decision and that nobody should care what you do. It is saying that the addiction has become so strong that the person does not even care what happens to them or how the outside world sees

Won't give you money I can't give you the sky You're better off if you don't ask why I'm not the reason that you go astray We'll be alright if you don't ask me to stay

It will bakrupt you if you let it, it cant ever give back to you. Its saying that you are better if you dont try to question why you have become addicted to the drug as well. It saying that you cant blame the drug for your addiction, because after all, they are the one who picked up the substance to begin with. and iit is saying that eventally it will leave you alone when you cannot afford the addiction anymore.

is there anyone else out there who simply interpreted the song as a man telling a woman how he feels about her?! i don't get any hint of cheating or drugs or whatever, could be just a simple love song. sometimes people miss the obvious because they're so concerned about looking for a hidden or deeper meaning, maybe this is one where you don't! 'tis possible, yanno

There are more types of drugs than the kind that mess you up physically. He's not talking about drugs, he's telling her that he is her drug... he gets her high, he swims through her veins. He makes her free when he's there. While yes, it sounds like a blatent drug refrence, and yes every other song he's done has refrenced drugs as his addiction (Uncle Kracker IS an admitted drug addict for those of us keeping track...), the refrence in this song, according to Uncle Kracker himself on a VH1 interview (What, you mean the artist actually has a story behing the lyrics?? Well damn that takes all the fun outta this...) is about a woman's affair. Kracker says, and this is a quote, "It was all about a woman who got so wrapped up in this guy she couldn't see straight. The guy was like 'hey, I ain't complainin', but this is how it is and either you accept it or you don't' know what I'm sayin'??"

Not a nice song, not a bad song, just a good song. Don't overanalyze the thing because the meaning of it doesn't make you appreciate it more. Have a Nice Day!

    My Interpretation

To me it's clearly a cheating song. Probably because I can really relate to it on that level. I've had people in my life I shouldn't have been with but they are incredibly hard to give up and you just don't know what it is about them that they have such a strong hold over you. They say all the right things and make it really hard not to go there with them.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
