Lyrics for Hey Hey What Can I Do as interpreted by kevin

Hey Hey What Can I Do Lyrics
Wanna tell you about the girl I love
My she looks so fine
She's the only one that I been dreamin' of
Maybe someday she will be all mine
I wanna tell her that I love her so
I thrill with her every touch
I need to tell her she's the only one I really love

I got a woman, wanna ball all day
I got a woman, she won't be true, no
I got a woman, stay drunk all the time
I said I got a little woman and she won't be true

Sunday morning when we go down to church
See the menfolk standin' in line
I said they come to pray to the Lord
With my little girl, looks so fine
In the evening when the sun is sinkin' low
Everybody's with the one they love
I walk the town, Keep a-searchin' all around
Lookin' for my street corner girl

I got a woman, wanna ball all day
I got a woman, she won't be true, no no
I got a woman, stay drunk all the time
I said I got a little woman and she won't be true

In the bars, with the men who play guitars
Singin', drinkin' and rememberin' the times
My little lover does a midnight shift
She balls around all the time
I guess there's just one thing a-left for me to do
Gonna pack my bags and move on my way
Cause I got a worried mind
Sharin' what I thought was mine
Gonna leave her where the guitars play

I got a woman, she won't be true, no no
I got a woman, wanna ball all day
I got a woman, stay drunk all the time
I got a little woman and she won't be true

(Hey hey what can I do)

I said she won't be true

(Hey Hey, What can I say?)

Hey hey, what can I do
I got a woman, she won't be true
Lord, hear what I say
I got a woman, wanna ball all day

i think this song is about his love for a girl that was from the wrong side of the tracks. He loves her and wants to be with her but, he can't deal with this othr side of her anymore. Hence the title" Hey Hey what can I do."I think she is a prostitute. THis is proven when he is talking about everyone else being with the one they love while he is walking the streets looking for his "street corner girl". And it's also proven when he sings the line " my little lover does a midnight shift." Then he talks about his worried mind and having to shae what he thought was his and how he's leaving her . And he keeps saying that she son't be true, I don't know either way , i love this tune. It's definetely one of my favorites and it amkes me wonder if Robert Plant really did date a hooker. I love how romantic most of Led Zeppelin's songs are when u actually read the lyrics. What a ladie's man.

well the song makes me remember of my uncle.. he just keeps singing it... i love the song.. and the meaning, well I think it is self-explanatory.. he fell in love with a prostitute (whore, hooker, slut)... and he doesnt know what to do...

this song, to me, is about a man who is in love with a hooker or a slut, but the woman won't love him back. So the man debates throughout the song whether or not to move on and find a new love, or stay and try to make the woman love him. In the end, he decides that there's nothing he can do, so he will move on. This may be one of my favorite songs. It is a woven piece of music that just flows along for the longest time. Plants vocals bring the sound in this song into the realm of perfection. This is one of the rarest zep songs there is because it isn't recorded on any of their albums. It was only released as a B side to the Immigrant Song single, and was only just re-released on the box set, which costs a WHOLE lotta money. Atlantic finally put that single back on the market and ive found it on Amazon.com for like five bucks. Just for your information. When I first heard this song, the only phrase that stuck in my head was, "Wanna tell you 'bout the girl I love." One of the best sung lyrics ever.

Wonder why it was never put on Zep III. Personally I think it would have fit (no offense to Hats Off To (Roy) Harper). Don't you?

No way, Mattimal, its not a hooker, or a slut, it could be but come on, its robert plant he doesnt need those.
This song is about loving a rockstar. (or one who lives like one)
He loves the girl, she may love him, but she doesnt want a relationship, she doesnt want to be tied down, but their love is so great he will go on and live his life waiting for her to calm down. i dont think its about a prositute, it could be, but more about the commitment of relationships

Zeppelin was so good that they could not find a space for a song as amazing as this on any of their albums. Most brands would sell their mother to write a song this good.

This song has been stuck in my head all day. It's one of the few songs that I don't have on a CD, but I've heard it on the radio and now I can't stop singing it. And yes, it is him being in love with a hooker. It's pretty obvious when you read the lyrics.

Hate to "rain on your parade" AFellowhutchin, but Zeppelin spent plenty of time in whore houses. They were incredible artists (the best of the lot in my opinion) but they weren't exactly Sunday School types and not much of a "role model." So don't go worshiping at the idol of Plant/Page ;-).

just when you think youve lost all respect for hootie and the blowfish, they cover this song and you wonder why you ever hated them. then you listen to their other stuff and you remember.

this song is awesome...the whole first stanza is beautifully written. it's about a hooker or prostitute, since "when the sun is sinking low"..."looking for my street corner girl" obviously means he's looking for a prostitute at night. anyways, my favorite line is "in the bars with the men who play guitars"...im not sure why, but i like the way it flows...

I think this song is just about a girl that plant was in love with. It talks about how much he loves her in the beginning, so i dont think it could be about a hooker.

I think he refers to her as his "street corner girl" because she wasnt true to him and thats what he thinks of her as.

I think the line... "in the evening when the sun is sinkin low and everybody's with the one they love, i walk the town, keep searchin all around, lookin for my street corner girl".... is a representation of his lonliness and how he misses the girl he used to have.

could be wrong.... one of their best, most catchy songs though.... gotta love it!!

Yeah, she's not a hooker; she just sleeps around on him. "Street corner girl" and "midnight shift" are meant as insults towards her; he's not saying she's an actual hooker.

"In the bars, with the men who play guitars/Singin', drinkin' and rememberin' the times" means she goes out and has a good time with other guys.

In the 2nd verse, the words are actually "Don't say they come to pray to the lord, not when my little girl looks so fine."

That verse is figurative—it's not about actually going to church, but about how she acts innocent when she's with him. He sees all the attention she gets from other guys, and she acts like they're just being friendly, but he doesn't buy it.

I agree, I beleive it's about a prostitute or something. "Street corner girl" and stuff. Ya know?

Still, my brother always sings shit like "Hey hey Sara eats poo." He's lame like that sometimes. -.- But there are better ones. Jeez I'm ramblin'.
