Should I fall out of love, my fire in the light
To chase a feather in the wind
Within the glow that weaves a cloak of delight
There moves a thread that has no end.

For many hours and days that pass ever soon
The tides have caused the flame to dim
At last the arm is straight, the hand to the loom
Is this to end or just begin?

[Chorus:]
All of my love, all of my love,
All of my love to you. (repeat)

The cup is raised, the toast is made yet again
One voice is clear above the din
Proud Aryan one word, my will to sustain
For me, the cloth once more to spin

[Chorus]

Yours is the cloth, mine is the hand that sews time
His is the force that lies within
Ours is the fire, all the warmth we can find
He is a feather in the wind

[Chorus]

My Interpretation:this song is capturing the moments following his son death... One aspect he's telling you is the painful decision of carrying on loving his wife and possibly creating another child all the while living and loving with out his son Karack. How does he forget n keep his marriage n future children when he is in sooo much pain n agony. His heart just wasn't in it, when his wife asked him to have another child... In the end of the song he realizes it is him n his wife who created the warmth n the flame. He would overcome the guilt n move on knowing his son Karack is a feather in the wind... I love his elegance of words n I understand all their songs. Instead of boring you with his simple feelings that everyone has had n heard before. He mesmerizes you with beauty, intrigue, elegance n grace...I love their work....

My Interpretation:The first two verses are about the pain of loosing his son.
"For many hours and days that pass ever soon
The tides have caused the flame to dim
At last the arm is straight, the hand to the loom
Is this to end or just begin?"
Is saying he doesn't know how to handle this much pain and should he stop living his life as his he is? But more importantly can he?

This is how I see it. One of the most incredibly beautiful and sad songs ever. So terrible the pain and suffering had to be endured to create this exquisite masterpiece.

General Comment:it's fairly obvious this song as with most Zep music are melody's to Pagan gods..no where in rock history is there a group, for one have music as deep, moving, and even metaphysical as ZEP..nor will there ever be...it's like their stuff is not even music...and it's not...thet are incantations, charms and or spells created using words....and their lyrics use references and words that most cant even decipher..(but only when played backwards)look at stairway to heavens lyrics..WTF...ps..they are not singing to the Jewish or Christian God...all this being said...one can only conclude the music and most importantly the lyrics are calling out to ..........and i'll leave that blank.....but it's true..

General Comment:The line goes "proud airy and one word my will to sustain". Airy is another word for proud. The term "proud airy" is quite common and found in classic and modern literature thousands and thousands of times over. Whoever suggested the lyrics were Aryan or Arienne or any variation should pick up a book or the original sheet music not some digital copy uploaded by a kid who wasn't even born when the album came out

General Comment:The first and last lines of the song refer to the "feather in the wind" which is a "He". Most marriages don't survive the loss of a child as each partner is a constant painful reminder to the other. So the song's sentiment is summarised in the first two lines: "Should I fall out of love...to chase a feather in the wind?" and the last line, "He is a feather in the wind" provides the interpretation, that the feather is his son who was lost. This surprised me, that a Dad would refer his beloved son as a mere 'feather'. Until I had a touching realisation, that Plant's personal symbol in the band was a curled feather, a reference to Egyptian symbolism, the feather of 'truth' which is also laid over the heart of the deceased. It's clear to me that Plant is referring to his son as a 'mini-feather', an extension of his feathery self who has been blown freely to the great beyond. ;)

Lyric Correction:There is a line wrong here. It says, "Proud aryan one word my will to sustain". This should be (google All My Love Lyrics" if you think I am wrong) "Proud ARIANNE one word my will to sustain". This refers to the Welsh Goddess Arianrhod, who refused to give her son a name. The "One Word" is the boy's name. Here is an excerpt from a Wiccan/Pagan site that helps explain : "Arianrhod had to step across a magic rod to prove her virginity, but when she did so, twin boys dropped from between her legs. [She was a virgin; the births were magically caused] Math(a king) named the first of the boys Dylan.
The second of these was taken away by Arianrhod's brother Gwydion and raised in a magic forest. Arianrhod, incensed by what she had suffered, laid three curses on the infant boy. He shall have no name except one she gives him. He shall bear no arms except ones she gives him. He shall have no wife of the race that is now on the earth."
It is common practice to shorten the name to Arianne, Ariane, or Arian. Her pride kept her from naming her child; She is depicted as a strong Goddess who was angry at the men who took her babies. Further, She was angry for giving birth, in front of men who were testing her to see if she was a virgin. Arian means "silver" and Rhod means "Wheel" (Welsh). Arianne is a primarily a Goddess of reincarnation. She eventually did name her son. (Wiki "Arianrhod Goddess" for further info) Blessed Be! Hecate's Daughter, Four Rivers Coven of Baltimore

My Interpretation:Different songs have a varying degree of possible meanings, for me anyways. However, this song to me screams the obvious...The first four lines meaning, in short, the natural urge for physical union makes also for the real need of love, the travels of life, help might I/we find its faithfulness over urge since your glow knows a baby within. Thread that has no end...umbilical cord. Second four lines, in short, it is natural time makes grow our baby, and such time finds also the wane of our main force of union physical us in love and you into the woman in the home. Is this to end or just begin?...With our understanding of a higher us, shall we follow this higher path? I love you. Third four lines, in short, Many men before me finds themselves here where I now am, I am what I am, where I am from, and beg the scream the pride which finds me makes me the same of myself by solid manhood for the newer, larger unity which finds us all here. For me, the cloth once more to spin...my fertility finds us from our union. Last four lines meaning, in short, your body weaves from my touch, our extension, this baby inside of you, becoming its own force. We shared a deepest union possible, and from this our extension will float also through life seeking more, that which brings us to this now. Chorus...I love solely you.

General Comment:I know Plant wrote this song for his beloved son, Karac, but I have a more profound take on this beautiful song. I believe it has deeply religious undertones. This is my interpretation of the song:

    All My Love Lyrics

Should I fall out of love, my fire in the light =

Should I falter from My Father’s calling to be the salvation and light for all the world?

To chase a feather in the wind =

By succumbing to the empty promises and attainment of all worldly treasures from (Mammon) the evil one?

Within the glow that weaves a cloak of delight=

As a backdrop to God’s eternal promise of Love, the prophets speak of My arrival

There moves a thread that has no end=

My eternal message of hope and redemption will live throughout humanity.

For many hours and days that pass ever soon =

The great anticipation of the arrival of the Son of Man was heralded by all the prophets before Me

the tides have caused the flame to dim=

The forces of evil attempt to drown the message of Love and Salvation in the hearts of men.

At last the arm is straight, the hand to the loom=

The Son of man foretelling the painful way He would die on the cross in fruition of his mission.

Is this to end or just begin?=

Humanity must choose whether to believe or not to believe in the Son of Man’s message of Salvation for all through repentance.

Chorus: All of my love, all of my love, All of my love to you. (repeat)=
Until the end of time, the Son of man is God’s new covenant with humanity through His unconditional Love for all who believe in Him.

The cup is raised; the toast is made yet again=

As foretold by Moses and the prophets, the life of the messiah will be ransomed with the Son of Man’s acceptance of the cup of suffering (at the last supper) heralding the new passover.

One voice is clear above the din=

Jesus Christ attests that He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life!

Proud Aryan one word, my will to sustain=

The Son of Man carried His cross to die in order for all of us to live

For me, the cloth once more to spin=

Jesus Christ shall return on the day of Judgment

    Chorus

Yours is the cloth, mine is the hand that sews time=

Everyone shall be present to account for his/her life on the Day of Judgment.

his is the force that lies within=

The evil one shall continue to corrupt the souls of the lost

Ours is the fire, all the warmth we can find=

The Son of Man is humanity’s Shepherd to all who hear his voice and believe in Him.

He is a feather in the wind=

Beware! Mammon (the evil one) offers nothing more than an empty promise to all of humanity.
