Lyrics for Kashmir as interpreted by kevin

Kashmir Lyrics
Oh let the sun beat down upon my face
Stars to fill my dream
I am a traveler of both time and space
To be where I have been
To sit with elders of the gentle race
This world has seldom seen
They talk of days for which they sit and wait
All will be revealed

Talk and song from tongues of lilting grace
Whose sounds caress my ear
But not a word I heard could I relate
The story was quite clear

Oh, I been flying... mama, there ain't no denyin'
I've been flying, ain't no denyin', no denyin'

All I see turns to brown, as the sun burns the ground
And my eyes fill with sand, as I scan this wasted land
Trying to find, trying to find where I've been.

Oh, pilot of the storm who leaves no trace
Like thoughts inside a dream
Heed the path that led me to that place
Yellow desert stream
My Shangri-La beneath the summer moon
I will return again
Sure as the dust that floats high in June
When movin' through Kashmir

Oh, father of the four winds, fill my sails
Across the sea of years
With no provision but an open face
Along the straits of fear

When I'm on, when I'm on my way, yeah
When I see, when I see the way, you stay-yeah

Ooh, yeah-yeah, ooh, yeah-yeah, when I'm down...
Ooh, yeah-yeah, ooh, yeah-yeah, well I'm down, so down
Ooh, my baby, oooh, my baby, let me take you there

Let me take you there. Let me take you there

I remember the first time I heard this song. It was about a week before I learned in my Geography class that it was a real place.

This was my introduction to Zeppelin.Probably the best track written of the 1970's & 80's. The meaning of the song is not as important as the whole feel of the track.

If this song had a really long solo in it it could have been greater than Stairway or any other song. thank you

ok the songs greatness NOT in any way depend on how long the solo is...jus because a song has a long solo doesnt automatically make it good...and a song with maybe no solo at all doesnt make it a bad song...and stop saying thank you...its not like your making any good points

What's more enjoyable is knowing how Jimmy Page made this album. He put so much time and effort into it perfecting it. He spent 1 entire year perfecting Phyicial Grafitti. The solo would've been nice but it's perfect the way it is now.

Hey what is this crap about Kashmir being in Africa..
Its a place in India you Morons..and check your geography peeps..
And this song is definitely about the Kashmir of India(the reference to Shangri-la which is a pass in the Himalayan mountains near Kashmir)
And this song was written when Jimmy Page and Robert Plant were on a trip to Morocco.(so its not about Morocco)
And to hell with all of this..THIS IS THE ULTIMATE LZ SONG..EVEN BETTER THAN STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN...IT KICKS ASS

This song does kick some serious ass. But Stairway To Heaven remains the greatest rock song of all time.

They probably were, they were tripping in Morocco when they wrote this. And it's a common fact that Led Zeppelin loved Morrocian dope. They were on it when they wrote Stairway To Heaven. So, I wouldn't be suprised if they were.

OK once again, I'll remind you all that it is ridiculous to try to clearly define something that is subjective in nature. So let's all quit being rude and have some intelligent discussion about this song.

Sounds like it's about Astral Projection to me...especially the line that says:

Oh let the sun beat down upon my face, stars to fill my dream
I am a traveler of both time and space, to be where I have been
To sit with elders of the gentle race, this world has seldom seen
They talk of days for which they sit and wait and all will be revealed

Just a thought.

frankly i am pissed of that no talent rapper p diddy or whatever he calls himself thesedays, ripped off such a great song. and he takes credit for how he was a mastermind for doing dip shit. not only did he bucher a gr8 song but 4 a dam soundtack 2 a movie! I mean come on! I dont no what leaves a worst taste in my mouth; the fact that a lame rapper butchered a classic zep song; or the fact that Page actually allowed this defilement to go on, and he even appears in the video! what has the world come to? not to mention that Zeppelin has a notorious reputation 4 not letting anyone mess with thier songs, I wonder if the rest of the band were mad at Page 4 giving diddy permision to do that. I think that Jack Black did the right thing in School of Rock was awsome, the whole movie is about honorring rock and roll, and i think Jack paid tribute to the Immagrant Song in a justified way, not to mention I was laughing my ass off. I dont no how i feel about the Caddalic ads using Zepp's Rock and Roll. Let me no how u guys feel, if u agree and disagree.
