    My Interpretation

I think this song truly shows how sex is really set up.

Despite the woman taking submissive roles, the entire goal of the entire act is to please her.

It's really an interesting song that is full of different ways to interpret it.

It could also be a way of subtly poking fun at how men have pretty bland fantasies whereas women are full of imagination in this regard.

I vaguely remember Terri Nunn talking about this in their live DVD from around 2003, and I don't remember the female character in the song being a prostitute. No, it was about the things that the sexes have to go through, showing the advantages and disadvantages--she has to be all these things/gets to be all these things, but he has to be/gets to be just one kind of man. It can work in either way. Knowing that it's Terri, I'd bet she is taking advantage of her power to at least bring herself fulfillment.

this song initially written by Berlin (that version sucked but still had the same the meaning.) the lovage version is just more open about meaning. this song is clearly about prostitution. the womans voice is filling all these fantasy roles while the man keeps his macho image the entire song. Its more obvious in the lovage version in the interviews with the (presumably) danish prostitute.

I find it interesting, why do you think it's about a Danish prostitute?

Lovage is amazing at taking and creating highly sexualized songs without making them degrading and vulgar.

I believe this can be about how complex and/or untrue a woman can be, and how men are kind of basic, and true. What they are is what they seem to be.

I always felt it was about the sexual chemistry of the two main singers being so powerful thanks to their rejection of traditional taboos and the interviews were highlighting where men and women could go wrong with interpreting and fulfilling their partners' sexual needs.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
