Lyrics for Black Dog as interpreted by kevin

Black Dog Lyrics
Hey, hey, mama, said the way you move, gonna make you sweat, gonna make you groove.
Oh, oh, child, way you shake that thing, gonna make you burn, gonna make you sting.
Hey, hey, baby, when you walk that way, watch your honey drip, can't keep away.

*Ah yeah, ah yeah, ah, ah, ah. Ah yeah, ah yeah, ah, ah, ah.

I gotta roll, can't stand still, got a flame in my heart, can't get my fill.
Eyes that shine burning red, dreams of you all through my head.

Ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah.

Hey, baby, oh, baby, pretty baby, Tell me won't you you do me now.

Didn't take too long 'fore I found out, what people mean my down and out.
Spent my money, took my car, started telling her friends she wants to be a star.
I don't know but I been told, a big-legged woman ain't got no soul.

* Chorus

All I ask for when I pray, steady rollin' woman gonna come my way.
Need a woman gonna hold my hand, won't tell me no lies, make me a happy man.

This song was named after a black dog around the studio grounds when it was recorded

It's about wanting to motorboat a fat chick ("gonna make you sweat" "gonna make you burn"
"big-legged woman aint got no soul") , then her using you for your fame and fortune ("down and out" "spent my money") And then in the last part it talks about how he wants a chick he can trust

there was a dog in the studio but its not about it... its about fame and lust. big rock starts..aka page and plant..see hot girls all the time and they date them and realize all they want is to be associated, to get a rich rockstar to spend money on them and they caught up on the second hand fame aspect. its fun in the meantime, but in the long run they want a good hearted women whos not just going to rob them of their riches but kick it and be real with them. hard to find when your page or plant..duh

It's basically about seeing a woman, and thinking wow she beautiful. And no matter what you can't stop thinking about her, you just want her. And thinking about everything you'd do to her.

well as for lyrics...its just another song about some chick...but they recorded Led Zeppelin IV in an old house (Jimmy says it was haunted) in England that they thought had really good acoustics so they bought it and chose to record the album in it and there was always a black dog walking around near there..so they just named this song Black Dog

The vocal and harmony arrangement on this sound is truly unbelievable. Imagine Plant singing the first line of the song over a random ass guitar rift. The start stop structure and the heavy rifts make this song what it is!!! Another classic.

I think this is about a relationship with a girl who turned out to just want his money. He sees her and I'd assume he has sexual fantasies about her and ends up with her then she takes his stuff and leaves him. Sweet riff though I don't think I've heard an intro track that starts as dyamically as this.

This song is about the celebration of the flesh. Like any other song by Jimmy Page, it is an homage to Satan and the Satanic traditions. Robert Plant and Jimmy Page are both friggin' Satanist. Page is a Sorcercer. Evil!!

jones was heavily influenced by muddy waters' "electric mud" and wanted to try a "Electric Blues with a rolling bass part."

the song wasn't inspired by the dog following them around in the studio it just what they decided to use as the title. Has nothing to do with the actual lyrics.

it's about wanting to fuck some hot chick.

I'm sure this has all been talked about already but I didn't see it in the more recent postings.

The name of the song comes from a black dog that was following the band around where in the cottage where the band was recording IV album. But the song is about a sexual relationship that didn't last.

Has nothing to do with satanism or evil in anyway. The guitar is a heavier version of Oh Well from Fleetwood Mac.

Fantasising about hot chick.

Fucked over and dumped by hot chick.

Feeling like he's in hell, looking for a "good" girl to possible save him from depression/hell.

Black Dog is a reference to depression, or satan or whatever. Heaven and hell are just states of mind.

Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa von Nettesheim appeared in a court (of law) in a trial against witches. Agrippa took the side of the witches. In the court room he had a black dog, which is thought to be the Devil disguised.

I like this song, but it's overplayed. It's basically about some girl, but is he saying she's ugly, like a "Black dog"?
