This is one of Zeppelins greatest songs. The song is simply asking what would happen without friends, and "The greatest thing you ever can do now,
Is trade a smile with someone who's blue now," is self explanatory;in my opinion, this is line which pushes this song above par.

This is a great song....It's very true too.....It's all about Karma.....If you make a point of smiling to others and giving a helping hand when you can, there is a good chance someone will be there to give you a hand up when you need it most.....It's about trying to be concious of more than just yourself and your immediate surroundings.....It's not always easy, but try to notice when there is something you can do for those around you...Try to be a freind to all, and you will never have a lonely day......"So anytime somebody needs you, don't let them down, although it grieves you, Some day you'll need someone like they do, looking for what you knew"....That says it all.....;)

another underrated Zep song. I sometimes wonder if people are too wrapped up in Stairway to Heaven to appreciate some of their peices, like this one.

I think the meaning is very self explanatory in this song.

If there is one thing you can take from this song... listen to how well plant and page go together. Basically in the parts where in goes... " its very easy........."

^Yep. Always the case with legendary rock bands: everyone knows the popular shit, not the real gems.

Anyway, this is one of the most beautiful, touching rock songs ever written. Smile at someone who's blue ... and how can they call Led Zep Satanists with lyrics like that?

A great song ... just great.

I love this song! its catchy, bright but almost dark at the same time. hard to describe.. basically what I got from it was always be there for your friends, anyone who's 'feeling blue', because there will be a time you'll need them. i dunno.. but its great!

y'know, i'm not quite sure that's exactly it...
when i see that line, i think like this:
someone's telling him, look, you've got love, you're not lonely, don't throw that away. and he did. now? he's lookin for what he knew, or had.

and i agree w/ most of the other comments here..good song

This is one of my favorite Zeppelin songs...it's so beautiful...the guitar is just awesome and the lyrics are just as good...

Overall, one of Zeppelin's best. And that's saying alot.

Uhhh, first I'm gonna contradict. I PERSONALLY never would have chosen... beautiful for this song, but it has always been one of my favorites. ~ Also, they were completely satanistic. But a lot of songs were directed (ie Houses of the Holy) to showing people that santanism isn't all hate and whatnot

This song is truly amazing thing. I love the guitar and then the violin stuff just adds sheer power. Very unique sound, very unique song.
