Bright light almost blinding
Black night still there shining
I can't stop keep on climbing
Looking for what I knew.
Had a friend she once told me
"You got love you ain't lonely "

Now she's gone and left me only
Looking for what I knew.
Mmm I'm telling you now
The greatest thing you ever can do now
Is trade a smile with someone who's blue now
It's very easy just.

Met a man on the roadside crying,
Without a friend, there's no denying,
You're incomplete, they'll be no finding
Looking for what you knew.
So anytime somebody needs you,
Don't let them down, although' it grieves you,

Some day you'll need someone like they do,
Looking for what you knew.
Mmm, I'm telling you now,
The greatest thing you ever can do now,
Is trade a smile with someone who's blue now,
It's very easy just...ooh, yeah

General Comment:This song is almost written like a warning. The music paints kind of a dark, winding imagery, while the lyrics speak of how important it is to keep true to your word and not burn bridges. It reminds me that if someone is dishonest and disloyal as a young man, they will be very alone and empty at the end of it all. So, if you're fortunate enough to have someone in your life, a friend, then appreciate the love that you have. One day you may find yourself without it...

General Comment:I hear it as losing your loved one (the love you once knew). But when you can't fill that void your sadness overwhelms you. Losing your love you feel lonely and like that hole will never be filled again. A friend comes along and picks you up from your sadness. You do this because you too one day might know the sadness that your friend is going through. So spread your smile and spread your love with open arms to a friend in need.

General Comment:Lemme tell you guys. This song has nothing to do with friends or karma or any of that shit. This friggin' song is an homage to Satan! Everybody knows Robert Plant is a friggin' Satanist and Jimmy Page is a god damn sorcercer. They been conjuring up spirits and doin incantations of sorts with their music since waaay back! "It's very easy just..." The music is evil!!

General Comment:This is definitely a great zeppelin song. I think theres more to it than just trading a smile with someone who's blue, however. I'm not quite sure what it is, but I'm sure that the lines about "looking for what I knew" has something to do with it.

General Comment:This song is very underappreciated. But true Led Zeppelin fans know that this is one of their best.

General Comment:Whoah, that's a very amusing story RayMan & Andy.. I couldjust picture it.

As for the eastern influences, I couldn't see nor hear em on this song. Maybe it's just me or it's just subtle. I have yet to hear the No Quarter: UnLedded version.
