Been dazed and confused for so long it's not true
Wanted a woman never bargained for you
Lots of people talk and few of them know
Soul of a woman was created below, yeah

You hurt and abused tellin' all of your lies
Run around sweet baby, Lord how they hypnotize
Sweet little baby I don't know where you've been
Gonna love you baby, here I come again

Every day I work so hard
Bringin' home my hard earned pay
Try to love you baby, but you push me away

Don't know where you're goin'
Only know just where you've been
Sweet little baby, I want you again

Been dazed and confused for so long, it's not true
Wanted a woman, never bargained for you
Take it easy baby, let them say what they will
Will your tongue wag so much when I send you the bill

General Comment:well, the song is a good one. I don't care if some other guy played part of it first, or if LZ stole it from the Yardbirds.. AFter all LZ WAS the Yardbirds.

Obviously the song is about loving the wrong kind of woman, and appears to have some lines from early blues. Plagiarized? maybe. Maybe not, anyways who cares...it's a good song. BTW before I liked LZ, when I was younger I thought of what the sound of a guitar with a violin bow would sound like.. with a Master of guitar it sounds like an orgasm.. ;)

General Comment:Wonder what he means "when I send you the bill." Is he going to do something violent?

Why do so many women have to be b**ches? They readily admit it. What the f is wrong with them?

Song Meaning:I believe that the song is about psychadelic drug use. I think the term "baby" and "woman" is actually a clever representation of the drugs themselves.

"Dazed and confused" itself is the state of entering these drugs and engaging in it. You really get a feeling of that when you're high. Some people can't remember a lot of what they're going to say and their mind is generally foggy.

"Every day I work so hard, bringin' home my hard earned pay. Try to love you baby, but you push me away."

This line shows how after a long day of work, the character really needs to relax. What better than recreational drug use?

Also, this was not created by Led Zeppelin.

General Comment:D&C is a Led Zep masterpiece, I don't care what it means, nor who the composer was, it deserves it's place on a pedestal with In My time of Dying, Song Remains the same, Gallows Pole, Kashmir, Ten Years Gone, Stairway to Heaven, Immigrant song, but my favourite not even given a mention here is Since I've been loving you, IMO Plants most challenging and accomplished vocal. (crank that one up on your iPod)!
Zep played D&C at Knebworth in '78,I know I was there, it was mindblowingly fkin superb. (Someone I don't know who claims it wasn't performed after '76... wrong!)
Oh I forgot Moby Dick, un fukin believable drums...RIP JHB Peace be upon you!
Zep didn't invent rock and roll but they put it on the map!

Memory:This is one of my favourite Zeppelin songs, I believe it is a masterpiece, showcasing the outstanding musical talents of all four members of the band.
IMO is is unimportant who claims authorship of a song, or what it means to the nth detail.
To me it's hoe the music makes you feel, how you relate toe piece

General Comment:Plant was singing about the woman he loved with all his soul, would've done anything for, but was not met with the same kind of love. She enjoyed hurting him, and playing tricks on his mind, leaving him dazed and confused, scarred from the wounds she left. All he ever wanted was a pure woman that would love him as much as he loved her. At least, thats what i get from the song, and well, Led Zeppelin as a whole basically. We all want a love that is equal and pure.

General Comment:when i first heard this song, i thought the lyric was "soul of a woman was created (for love)" when i found out it was "(below)," it kind of depressed me. haha. it's like the exact opposite.

General Comment:This is my all-time favorite Zeppelin song. I love how it seems everyone get their chance to shine. Jones gets to start it off with his haunting bass line. Then you have Page somehow playing guitar with a bow. Then Plant starts making love to the microphone. But the best performance of the song, like most Zeppelin songs, is of course Bonzo. He is just ridiculous in this song, especially at the end.
