Day after day
Alone on a hill
The man with the foolish grin is keeping perfectly still
But nobody wants to know him
They can see that he's just a fool
And he never gives an answer
But the fool on the hill
Sees the sun going down
And the eyes in his head
See the world spinning 'round
Well on the way
Head in a cloud
The man of a thousand voices
Talking perfectly loud
But nobody ever hears him
Or the sound he appears to make
And he never seems to notice
But the fool on the hill
Sees the sun going down
And the eyes in his head
See the world spinning 'round
And nobody seems to like him
They can tell what he wants to do
And he never shows his feelings
But the fool on the hill
Sees the sun going down
And the eyes in his head
See the world spinning 'round
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
'Round and 'round and 'round and 'round and round
He never listens to them
He knows that they're the fools
They don't like him
The fool on the hill
Sees the sun going down
And the eyes in his head
See the world spinning 'round
Oh and 'round and 'round and 'round and
Oh
Alone on a hill
The man with the foolish grin is keeping perfectly still
But nobody wants to know him
They can see that he's just a fool
And he never gives an answer
But the fool on the hill
Sees the sun going down
And the eyes in his head
See the world spinning 'round
Well on the way
Head in a cloud
The man of a thousand voices
Talking perfectly loud
But nobody ever hears him
Or the sound he appears to make
And he never seems to notice
But the fool on the hill
Sees the sun going down
And the eyes in his head
See the world spinning 'round
And nobody seems to like him
They can tell what he wants to do
And he never shows his feelings
But the fool on the hill
Sees the sun going down
And the eyes in his head
See the world spinning 'round
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
'Round and 'round and 'round and 'round and round
He never listens to them
He knows that they're the fools
They don't like him
The fool on the hill
Sees the sun going down
And the eyes in his head
See the world spinning 'round
Oh and 'round and 'round and 'round and
Oh

I love this song and I think it pairs well with the movie of which this song plays at the beginning, "Dinner With Schmucks" with Steve Carell & Paul Rudd. To me it's a life lesson of not being quick to judge someone. This is the story line of the movie and in the end, the man everyone judges as the fool, ends up unintentionally teaching the guy a life less thus making him the actual fool for judging a man who is kind hearted. I am not religious but everyone here has some really good analogies of the song being religious and I like the Lennon idea too. Regardless, it's a great song.
Nice. And thanks for the movie info. What's the saying, though, about man being his own biggest critic. I've always pondered why more adults don't walk around in Santa hats around Christmastime; or laugh hystarically in public; or spondaneously dance when others are around; etc. We worry what others think of us because we don't like who we are, and that goes for each of us. Nobody really shackles us; we do it to ourselves mentally; physically; spiritually; etc. I have former inlaws who dress in high water pants; drive old cars; cut coupons; etc, and nobody would ever guess they are worth a couple million (or that they can be mean, horrible people:)
