Babe baby baby I'm gonna leave you.
I said baby you know I'm gonna leave you.
I'll leave you when the summertime
Leave you when the summer comes a rollin'
Leave you when the summer comes along.
Baby baby I don't want to leave you
I ain't jokin' woman I got to ramble.
Oh yeah baby baby I believin'
We really got to ramble.
I can hear it callin' me the way it used to do
I can hear it callin' me back home!
Babe...I'm gonna leave you
Oh, baby, you know, I've really got to leave you
Oh I can hear it callin 'me
I said don't you hear it callin' me the way it used to do?
Ohhh
I know, I know
I know I never never never gonna leave your babe
But I got to go away from this place,
I've got to quit you, yeah
Ooh, baby...
Baby, ooh don't you hear it callin' me?
Woman, woman, I know, I know
It feels good to have you back again
And I know that one day baby, it's really gonna grow, yes it is.
We gonna go walkin' through the park every day.
Come what may, every day
Oooh, mama baby
I'm gonna leave you--go away
It was really, really good.
You made me happy every single day.
But now!
I've got to go away!
Baby, baby, baby, baby
That's when it's callin' me
I said that's when it's callin' me back home...

General Comment:I think this song is about someone who has inner demons (be it drugs or whatever) and leaves because they are trying to not drag the person they care about down with them. I think he is planning on being gone permenately and "And I know that one day baby, it's really gonna grow, yes it is.
We gonna go walkin' through the park every day" refers to what he considers unattainable paradise. What he wants and what he deserves/is capable of are far apart. I think this is an explanation for leaving and an apoligy to the person he loves and thinks he doesn't deserve.

General Comment:Man this song kicks ass but... I must say that listening to this on CD compared to the first press UK or US (better ion UK) vinyl just doesnt cut it. I know they say that all the time about vinyl.. But I think where the statement rings true the most is with this 60's/70's rock stuff like Zep, The Doors, The Who, Bowie, The Kinks etc etc. Zeppelin I on early vinyl sounds fuckin' AMAZING! You gotta hear it to beleive it. The opening to this song will give you goose bumps... The Doors Strange days is another fine example of analogue vinyl kicking ass over inferior digital, compressed crap.

My Interpretation: The best they ever did. But I believe its about an attempt to get off drugs. He is very uncertain and confused (I've got to leave you...I'm never gonna leave you.)
