Lyrics for Ramble On as interpreted by kevin

Ramble On Lyrics
Leaves are falling all around, It's time I was on my way.
Thanks to you, I'm much obliged for such a pleasant stay.
But now it's time for me to go. The autumn moon lights my way.
For now I smell the rain, and with it pain, and it's headed my way.
Sometimes I grow so tired, but I know I've got one thing I got to do...

*Ramble On, And now's the time, the time is now, to sing my song.
I'm goin' 'round the world, I got to find my girl, on my way.
I've been this way ten years to the day, Ramble On,
Gotta find the queen of all my dreams.

Got no time to for spreadin' roots, The time has come to be gone.
And to' our health we drank a thousand times, it's time to Ramble On.

* Chorus

Mine's a tale that can't be told, my freedom I hold dear.
How years ago in days of old, when magic filled the air.
T'was in the darkest depths of Mordor, I met a girl so fair.
But Gollum, and the evil one crept up and slipped away with her, her, her....yeah.

* Chorus

Gonna ramble on, sing my song. Gotta keep-a-searchin' for my baby...
Gonna work my way, round the world. I can't stop this feelin' in my heart
Gotta keep searchin' for my baby. I can't find my bluebird!

Okay, African roots, we have a bunch of blues CDs and I have been partically intrested in Elmore James. I think I will look into that right now but I am kinda lost right now, made some bad decisions and later I'll look into that. (I don't wanna be like ledskynyrd but here goes) Thank You.

If you want to hear an EXCELLANT example of an Elmore James (Sonny Boy Williamson, Elmore James and Marshall Sehorn) tune turned 70's rock, check out, "One Way Out" on the Allman Brothers, "Eat A Peach" album...one of the finest albums of rock 'n roll. Like Jimmy Page, Duane Allman was heavily influenced by the slide guitar that featured prominently in the Blues...when they would saw off a coke bottle neck to use as a slide. Duane used a Coricidin medicine bottle. Another guitar great of the '70's was Johnny Winter who more recently teamed up with Muddy Waters. Check out "Johnny Winter And...Live" and "Still Alive and Well" for a healthy dose of the heyday of rock. And of course, there's Johnny's brother Edgar Winter and other band members, Rick Derringer and Ronnie Montrose. Another guitar great is Robin Trower...check out "Bridge of Sighs" - named after a bridge in Venice where prisoners would get their last view of daylight before being taken to the dungeons. There is a wealth of music from the early to mid '70's...nothing like it since. Another killer album is Aerosmith's first, "Aerosmith." I could go on forever...also check out Bob Dylan, the Doors, Jeff Beck, Emerson Lake & Palmer, Traffic, Mountain, Grand Funk Railroad, Ted Nugent, Peter Frampton, Crosby Stills Nash & Young, Black Oak Arkansas, Mott the Hoople, Bad Company, Deep Purple (Smoke on the Water), The Who, Eric Clapton, Hendrix, Santana, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Foghat, Wet Willie, Foreigner, Pink Floyd, KISS, Leon Russell, The Guess Who, Rare Earth, Steppenwolf, Jefferson Airplane, Chicago, Boston, Electric Light Orchestra, Lou Reed, Ten Years After, James Gang, Free, Moody Blues, Focus ("Hocus Pocus"), Argent...the list could go on and on...

Thanks for the effort you put in to tell me about all these cool bands. I already listen to a bunch of the Doors and we got a Ten Years After CD, I can play the Deep Purple Smoke on the Water intro but I really wanna hear it (makes me feal like a poser). Gets me mad somebody I know thought it's a Hendrix Song. We got A lot of Cream and I like the incredible bass lines by...is it Jack Bruce? We got a bunch of Bob Dylan and I have the Elmore James and Bob Dylan greatest hits. I really wanna check out Aerosmith, been listening to their hits but I wanna hear some less mainstream stuff (like Ramble On). By the way I don't know much about 70's Rock so could you make a list of good albums to recomend to buy by The Who or Pink Floyd? They seem intresting...

The Who...probably a Greatest Hits album. Most all their albums were great, including "Who's Next," "Quadraphenia," "Tommy," etc.

Pink Floyd -- "Dark Side of the Moon" (I believe it was the longest running album on the charts until Michael Jackson's "Thriller" beat it). Next, "The Wall."

BTW...a little "rock trivia" -- on the last album Keith Moon played on before he died, "Who Are You," he is sitting on a chair that say's, "Not To Be Taken Away." Similar to the Lynyrd Skynyrd album that has the band members surrounded by flames, prior to the plane crash that killed Van Zant, Gaines and others.

A little more trivia for you...Jimmy Page got his 1958 Les Paul guitar from Joe Walsh...the leader of the "James Gang" and later, of course with the Eagles. As I recommended above, be sure to check out "James Gang Rides Again" for some truly classic rock and roll guitar -- pre Eagles, Joe Walsh.

Thanks, I always thought Jimmy Page Played a Gibson Les Pau, (didn't know it was a sacred instrument from another musican). Didn't he play a Gibson Double neck guitar? (speaking from inexperiance.) I'll check into "James Gang Rides Again".

Check out the Song on here "Royal Orleans". You seem to know a lot about music, I'm wondering if all that grossed stuff is real about JPJ, because he's so cool.

I have to say that finding this site and reading about the meaning of Led Zeppelin's lyrics (especially that they are so filled with stale metaphors to Tolkien) has really diminished the mystical quality I always thought the music had. The whole Tolkien thing is so lame and worn out - and has been for years (way before those awful movies were manufactured.)

I never thought I could be IN LOVE with a song until I heard this one. Isn't that crazy? To be in love with a song.... and not like "oh I love that song"

It's like, in love, like really, like I'll marry it or something, I don't know, but I could listen to it forever. It's so transcendental and mystical. CRAZY.
