Lyrics for Ramble On as interpreted by kevin

Ramble On Lyrics
Leaves are falling all around, It's time I was on my way.
Thanks to you, I'm much obliged for such a pleasant stay.
But now it's time for me to go. The autumn moon lights my way.
For now I smell the rain, and with it pain, and it's headed my way.
Sometimes I grow so tired, but I know I've got one thing I got to do...

*Ramble On, And now's the time, the time is now, to sing my song.
I'm goin' 'round the world, I got to find my girl, on my way.
I've been this way ten years to the day, Ramble On,
Gotta find the queen of all my dreams.

Got no time to for spreadin' roots, The time has come to be gone.
And to' our health we drank a thousand times, it's time to Ramble On.

* Chorus

Mine's a tale that can't be told, my freedom I hold dear.
How years ago in days of old, when magic filled the air.
T'was in the darkest depths of Mordor, I met a girl so fair.
But Gollum, and the evil one crept up and slipped away with her, her, her....yeah.

* Chorus

Gonna ramble on, sing my song. Gotta keep-a-searchin' for my baby...
Gonna work my way, round the world. I can't stop this feelin' in my heart
Gotta keep searchin' for my baby. I can't find my bluebird!

My opinion on this is very similar to The Battle of Evermore. I think it is a story that he thought of in reading LOTR but not directly about LOTR. He certainly used very strong allusions to it, and the plot does resemble the Aragorn/Arwen sideplot like Chris said, but I refuse to believe it is directly about LOTR. I think it's just a story about a traveller who has been living in one place for a while, but the time has come for him to leave. Pretty simple really.

its not about Frodos journey. have you read Lotr, when Frodo was on his way to Mordor Gollum was scarerd to death of that place so why would he take his girl back there....besides frodo didnt have a girl.

I'd hafta say this song means ramblin' through the place, but you're still looking for your girl. And the Lord of the Rings part was just a metaphore. This is my favourite one of their songs.

the lyrics in this song aren't based on an event that actually happened in the hobbit or lord of the rings, it's just an awesome led zeppelin metaphor

When it says "Mine's a tale that can't be told, my freedom I hold dear" He is has to make up something because he CAN'T tell his own story about Ramblin' through everywhere because he wants to remain a mystery. It's not about LOTR.

Why do any of Zeppelins songs destroy any modern music you listen to before or after listening to Zeppelin??

mine would look like

1.Thrice
2.The Beatles
3.Led Zeppelin
4.The Rolling Stones
5.Thursday or Taking Back Sunday (i cant decide)

I have alot of other favorites, but those are my top five

although i love Don Mclean's American Pie

As for this song, its not zeppelin's best, but it is very good. And i disagree with the whole idea that it tells a LOTR story, but it does have some tolkein references. the girl in this song probably isnt anyone(or anything) in paticular, singing about something like a lost girlfriend just seems to be a good subject for many rock songs.

Rolling Stones were a lot better with their lyrics, I like the Beatles, but their lyrics don't have much meaning. Fad...but still good sounding, easy to listen to.

The Beatles are too commercial. They have good sound but their lyrics like "I want to hold your hand" are a little bland and they don't go deep enough for a lot of standards. Rolling Stones a lot more musical I think than the Beatles. Isn't Yes that England band from a while ago whose piano player who made an ice show? I might be mistaken. The Beatles are more Censored and Rolling Stones were for more of a Rock and Roll Audience like...

obviously youre retarded. all of you lotr freaks or whatever you are, some of the zep songs do have references to the book, that doesnt mean that every song has something to do with frodo or bilbo.if you just read the last stanza Gotta keep-a-searchin' for my baby...
Gonna work my way, round the world. I can't stop this feelin' in my heart
Gotta keep searchin' for my baby. I can't find my bluebird!

if you would just read through the song without trying to make any connections to lord of the rings, its about plant and his never ending search for his soul mate
