The young stale memories
Of the play the role to your part
Librarian find me the pole
The one that kicks your head in
With my own time role your own innocence by
Grab on to my sleeve
The one that grabs at your ankle
Debate to understand that we all have a flaw
The fail to represent your life as you know it
God grant you one wish
To turn back the time...correct and create

Me and my star Matthew goodnight
You know by law when you'll be forgiven
Maria my star Matthew goodnight
You know my lord when you'll be forgiven

So they pulled your confidence down
With those verbal discrepancies
Now and then you'll gain what they've lost
Through a challenge of unpronounced
Pain is only a pulse if you stop feeling it
You might be able to use
The very thing that makes us up

Me and my star Matthew goodnight
You know by law when you'll be forgiven
Maria my star Matthew goodnight
You know my lord when you'll be forgiven

Wait, now, here when will you believe?
Me I'm merely asking you to help me
When did I say to murder?
Wait, now, here, please hear me out
Time consumer, time consuming, consume me

Song Meaning:There is a lot of misinformation about all of their song meanings. I'll try to summarize without getting too far into it. If I do, others will set me straight.

Progressive Rock sounds about right to an old fart like me. It is all based around a story of which there are comic books about. Any Prog Rock band has an album or theme among their albums. Pink Floyd, Yes etc... Coheed is extremely talented if they just whipped up basic lyrics, but to have all of this great music wrapped around an amazing story is crazy.

    Time Consumer:
Mom and Dad(Coheed and Cambria) have had a virus installed in them upon birth(don't worry about why unless you really want to get deep into this story). This also happened to Coheed's brother Jesse(Inferno). Each possess a special power that can be unlocked as part of a potential future plan(of which they are unaware of).

The evil red army dude(Mayo) meets up with Coheed and tells him that his children have a mutation of the virus that can destroy the energy force that holds the solar system together(heaven's fence). As a precaution, Coheed must kill all of his children. The youngest 2(Maria and Mathew) are at home. They poison them. Other songs deal with what happens to their daughter and their son Claudio.

There is so much to the story that you can really get lost in it.

General Comment:This is the first song in Coheed and Cambria's overarching story "The Armory Wars", which spans each of the band's albums. This song sets the tone for the setting of the story and the tone.

"The Armory Wars" is set in a post-apocalyptic Earth approximately 20 years after the assassinations of the world leaders Coheed and Cambria. Now an anarchist state with no one to turn to, the citizens of the world have begun worshipping the Sun - or the "Time Consumer" (as the Sun is how we define time). In this universe, the Sun has two parts, one named Maria (the good) and one named Matthew (the evil). The lyrics of this song are the people of the world worshipping and praising the sun ("Maria my star, Matthew goodnight"). It appears that the Sun is more than it seems, and the final lines of the song are a discussion between two of the major characters (Newo and her husband Ikkin) on taking matters into their own hands...

General Comment:the some is about Coheed (The father of Claudio in The Amory Wars story) killing Maria and Matthew (The twins mentioned in early songs). the "Maria my star...Matthew goodnight" is Coheeds last words to them.

General Comment:This song is about Coheed dealing with the fact he must kill his children. This song in particular also deals with the killing of his two youngest, the twins, Maria and Matthew. He poisons them both. If you read the amazing comics, you will understand.

My Interpretation:In the story, The Amory Wars, Coheed Kilgannon - together with his wife, Cambria - must murder their children, by order of Mayo Deftinwolf. Deftinwolf tells Coheed it is to save the world because the Children have Coheed's Monstar virus lying dormant within them, but this is simply a fallacy. In truth, Deftinwolf wants to use Coheed and his monstar virus to help Wilhelm Ryan gain control over the entire framework.

With that brief summary behind us, let's take a look at the song.

In the first verse, Coheed laments having to kill his children, and realizes how beautiful a thing true innocence truly is. In the chorus, when he mentions, "Me and my star," he is referring to the monstar virus, which he believes he passed down to his children. The phrase,"Maria my star, matthew goodnight..." is taken directly from the comic book. When Maria, Coheed's daughter, comes to breakfast during the exposition, he calls her his star. At the end of the first issue, Matthew is seen sleeping. Coheed utters the words "Matthew, goodnight," in sadness, as he will never be able to see his son wake up, for he is about to murder him on the order of Deftinwolf. I am slightly unsure about the bridge (starting with "wait now"). Either Coheed is breaking the horrible news to Cambria, telling her that they must kill their children -OR- it could be Deftinwolf telling Coheed what he must do.

    General Comment:ok their not Emo
    their alternative rock
    and this song is about
Coheed deciding on killing his kids
because they have a virus and the only way to stop it from spreading is to kill them
so he asks his wife Cambria if she will do it with him which is the part
"now im merely asking you to help me when did i say to murder"
and they end up killing Maria and Matthew
"Me and my star, Matthew good night"
"You know by law when you'll be forgiven"
    "Maria my star, Matthew goodnight"
"You know my lord when you'll be forgiven"
