I don't care if Monday's blue
Tuesday's gray and Wednesday too
Thursday I don't care about you
It's Friday I'm in love
Monday you can fall apart
Tuesday Wednesday break my heart
Thursday doesn't even start
It's Friday I'm in love

Saturday wait
And Sunday always comes too late
But Friday never hesitate

I don't care if Monday's black
Tuesday Wednesday heart attack
Thursday never looking back
It's Friday I'm in love

Monday you can hold your head
Tuesday Wednesday stay in bed
Or Thursday watch the walls instead
It's Friday I'm in love

Saturday wait
And Sunday always comes too late
But Friday never hesitate

Dressed up to the eyes
It's a wonderful surprise
To see your shoes and your spirits rise
Throwing out your frown
And just smiling at the sound
And as sleek as a shriek
Spinning round and round
Always take a big bite
It's such a gorgeous sight
To see you eat in the middle of the night
You can never get enough
Enough of this stuff
It's Friday
I'm in love

General Comment:Even if you don't understand this song, the atmosphere is happy and lovely! The Cure always were able to do that in songs, either make the atmosphere really dark or really happy! There was no middle, that's what I love about the Cure!

General Comment:Love the band. Creative song. It's about living for the weekend and living for a love interest, especially on the weekend. IT'S THE WEEKEND. Relax and enjoy. Very, very soon the sun will shine high in the sky, the birds and bees will be in full swing, beach sand will be between the toes, and nothing else (and no one else) will matter. Love the song. Just relax and enjoy the weekend.

General Comment:Wow. 129 comments. I've always hated this song for personal reasons, but lately I've been listening to The Cure and I must admit that this is an excellent song...musically. Even the lyrics are creative. For a band to make a song about a lack of empathy about a supposed love interest sound good, just shows how very talented The Cure is/was. Not sure why I relate the The Cure with The Killers, but I suppose it's due to the great talent of both lead singers. Very, very impressive musicians...

General Comment:The lyrics make lots of Islamic references.

Friday is the Islamic day of rest, "Dressed up to the eyes" is a reference to the clothing, "Always take a big bite" and "To see you eat in the middle of the night" are references to Ramadan. The former being a reference to what anyone would do when breaking a fast.

Also, the lyrics should say " As sleek as a Sheikh". Which is an Arabian honorific.

General Comment:Creative song, but overplayed. About someone who looks forward to the weekend (fun) but doesn't give a crap about the person he's with until s/he's useful to him/her. It's a favorite again this week. Enjoy the chase:)

General Comment:Its about going out on a friday night and having a one night stand with a girl, and then not talking to them for the rest of the week, he's being ironic by saying that getting laid is love when really it isn't

General Comment:To me this seems to be about loving something or someone with intensity and uncertainty all at once. You're hurt on Monday, or you notice something frightening about it, the week is blotched and ruined... doesn't even matter. and then all at once you're reminded why you loved it/them in the first place and it's "Friday, I'm in love" all over again.

    Whatever it's about it's a great song.

General Comment:It's an excellent song...lyrically creative...has a good beat...nice sound. But it is not a love song by any stretch of the imagination. The majority of the song seems to be about a guy (or girl) who doesn't care too much for his love interest (using the word 'love' loosely), but s/he matters to him when the weekend comes around and there's fun to be had. If one removes the idea of a "significant" other from the song, than it's about losing all worries and responsiblities once Friday arrives. Great song from an obviously talented band.

General Comment:Three things I have to say about this song.
    1) When it came out, I hated it, and it signaled the end of The Cure as a creator of superior music and lyrics.
    2) My hatred for it did lessen when I saw them in concert with an ex, and in my mind gave it a sarcastic, cynical point of view -- making fun of happy love songs, and long in general. "Hey it's Friday, let's be in love!"
    3) The lyrics are consistent with the theme of "It's Friday, time to relax/party". I'm fairly certain in one version of the song he sings "It's Friday I'm in love with." I agree with the comment about the lyrics about dancing. Eating at midnight? On Friday you can stay up. No school/work the next day. Friday is the start of the weekend, after drudging the whole week.
Or maybe it's about drugs. Gotta wait till Friday so's to not be intoxicated at work.
