Lyrics for Friday I'm In Love as interpreted by oofus

Friday I'm In Love Lyrics
I don't care if Monday's blue
Tuesday's grey and Wednesday too
Thursday I don't care about you
It's Friday I'm in love

Monday you can fall apart
Tuesday Wednesday break my heart
Thursday doesn't even start
It's Friday I'm in love

Saturday wait
And Sunday always comes too late
But Friday never hesitate...

I don't care if Mondays black
Tuesday Wednesday heart attack
Thursday never looking back
It's Friday I'm in love

Monday you can hold your head
Tuesday Wednesday stay in bed
Or Thursday watch the walls instead
It's Friday I'm in love

Saturday wait
And Sunday always comes too late
But Friday never hesitate...

Dressed up to the eyes
It's a wonderful surprise
To see your shoes and your spirits rise
Throwing out your frown
And just smiling at the sound
And as sleek as a shriek
Spinning round and round
Always take a big bite
It's such a gorgeous sight
To see you eat in the middle of the night
You can never get enough
Enough of this stuff
It's Friday
I'm in love

Its not about Friday, in particular. Not to me at least. Its about being in love, but not a stupid sugary love, something without frills. Its raw. I can't explain what it means to me actually.

It's about being in love at this exact moment, and nothing else matters. Who cares if the rest of my week, or month, or life, is awful because I'm happy and in love right now.

I associate this song with a past relationship of mine...I was pretty selfish and needed to drink with my friends a lot and it was really only on Friday that I was the loving boyfriend I could have been the rest of the week. It was friday that I was in love and it was great, but the rest of the time we seemed to have a lot of problems.

This song could be about drugs. But it could be about anything, a good song, a loved one, seeing your friends, anything. I think its just about looking forward to something. One of the finest peices of music ever written I think.

i love this song! i think that its about that one day of the week that someone waits for. that he might doubt that he is actually in love but then he has this bright shining day where he realizes ye he is in love and that he loves everything about this person the lines"Dressed up to the eyes
It's a wonderful surprise
To see your shoes and your spirits rise
Throwing out your frown
And just smiling at the sound
And as sleek as a shriek

To see you eat in the middle of the night
You can never get enough
Enough of this stuff
It's Friday
I'm in love" prove this point

The 80s was probably the best rock era...Proof - Interviewer: why did the 80s rock so hard?
Jade Puget(AFI): I can't answer that, it would take an essay.

this song reminds me of a really happy time in my life. it will always be a happy song for me probably. unless it becomes sad, in which case....it will no longer be happy. and that would be bad....and sad.

too many cure songs remind me of drugs. i agree with Ratzody, its like waiting till friday...then you drop an E (or whteva) and you can just forget about everythng else around you...in love with the drug. "you can never get enough, enough of this stuff"- always coming back for more, because you're always waiting for friday when you can take the drug and be in love again.

its funny because i dont think this song has any DIRECT reference to drugs at all, but i think that there is more to your interpretation that the fact taht you do drugs. i dont know if i can explain it but somethign robert is searching for is like what drugs help us search for or something i don't know.

there is something so perfect and quintesential about the cure... their sound and their lyrics. personally i sit down and listen to them just as though they are an emo band, i respect them that much. and this is a great song, defininitely not their best though.

forgive me for being a complete bitch.... but the fact that we have to discuss the meaning of this song is very very sad.... if you share what particular meaning it has to you thats one thing... but ot me there is nothing at all to analyse.. its so painfully literal and straight forward and i was so disturbed when the cure wrote and released it.. have never liked their stuff since.. even bloodflowers has all been tainted by the track record of releasing songs like this... i stopped after disintegration....

I disagree intoodeep. I think what is going on is he is being hurt by a girl quite a bit "throughout the week"...not so much literally but more in a sense that even though it is the majority of the time, when it comes down to it...he loves her. He is saying that whatever they went throught he puts behind him cause "it's Friday and I'm in love!"

I think Friday I'm In Love means that he doesn't care what happens within the week (you could 'fall apart', or if it's 'black'), but when Friday comes, he still loves the person just as much.

I agree with the majority of you who seemed to have picked up on the obvious theme of "Thank God it's friday"...
But I can't help but wonder if I'm the only one who's read/listened to the last stanza of the song...
It's incredibly explicit, I'd say it's giving some insight into exactly why Robert Smith's in love with friday...
Anyone else picked up on that?
