You look like you could do with a friend she said
You look like you could use a hand
Someone to make you smile she said
Someone who can understand
Share your trouble
Comfort you
Hold you close
And I can do all of these
I think you need me here with you
You look like you do with a sister she said
You look like you need a girl to call your own

Like fabulous! fabulous!
Call me fabulous!
And rubbing her hands so slow
You stare at me all strange she said
Are you hungry for more?
I've had enough I said
Please leave me alone
Please go

It doesn't touch me at all
It doesn't touch me at all

You know that you could do with a friend she said
You know that you could use a word
Like feel or follow or fuck she said
And laughing away as she turned
You've everything but no-one
Like the last man on earth
And when I die I said
I'll leave you it all
Door closes
Leaves me cold

It doesn't touch me at all
It doesn't touch me at all

You really do need a sister she said
You really do need a girl to call your own

Like wonderful! wonderful!
Call me wonderful!
And running her hands so slow
You stare at me all strange she said
Are you hungry for more?
I've had enough I said
Please leave me alone
Please go
Please go

My Interpretation:For me, this song is about the existential lonelyness within each of us.
When we are hurt, we are in pain, or even dying ... no-one can really help.
Some people want to , but they can't, how good / bad they are trying.
Untill we are tired of good intentions and just want to be left alone.
( To be left alone, in a trance, with the basses of 'wendy time' on the background).
Been there, that's why I adore the song.
The demo-version revaels its true spirit, which completely got lost in the studio version.

General Comment:The studio version of this song is crap. The very best version of this song is an early live one, from the “Picture show” VHS. There is also a demo version floating around, that is worth listening.

General Comment:I've always seen "Wendy" as temptation. I think the guy is fighting the temptation and allure of Wendy. So, hooker!

    General Comment:I kind of disagree with most of the comments. You're forgeting about his perspective and response to her advances;
    "Please leave me alone.
    Please go.
It doesn't touch me at all.
It doesn't touch me at all."
She maybe offering, but he isn't interested. She comes across as shallow and insincere to him. And I doubt the she in this song is Siouxie, or anyone particular individual. Also, Wendy's personality kind of seems like; en.wikipedia.org/wiki/… .

General Comment:i think it's about a cheap fuck. sorry to be blunt but that's what i get out of it. it's best played on play-out/ secret gig. sometimes just a primal cheap meaningless night of sharing one another can be good. it can make you love the one you love that much more. it can release tension built up between two people so that the relationship whether personal or business can get done.
"i think you can use a word, like feel or follow or fuck she said".

General Comment:I remember reading somewhere that Wendy was a hooker.

    "You're everything but no-one
Like the last man on earth"

    Robert Smith is a genius.

General Comment:if its about siouxsie, wouldn't it appear a bit earlier on? like just after he supposedly 'ditched' the banshees two weeks before an extensive tour? siouxsie still seems angry at him, i read this interview with her...
