Lyrics for 2 Late as interpreted by oofus

2 Late Lyrics
So I'll wait for you
Where I always wait
Behind the signs that sell the news
I'll watch for you like yesterday
And hope for you
One day that once
Spent out on me
And up 'til late
I search for you
Your hat pushed straight
Away from me
Your measured step
Heads up you win
Always too late

If I could just once catch your eye
Invisible against the words
That hold you down in solitude
And never let you go
The way that every time
My eyes just close
Like lids of wooden men in file
I put you under rainy day
Your hat's all off
And I'm gone away...

Maybe about a secret crush almost stalker like or it could be about someone who enjoys being and meeting the same person everyday, yet everyday brings new excitement to them.

"So I'll wait for you
Where I always wait
Behind the signs that sell the news"

this gives the impression of a secret romance

"And hope for you
One day that once
Spent out on me
And up 'til late"

hoping one day they dont have to hide the secret.

"I search for you
Your hat pushed straight
Away from me
Your measured step
Heads up you win
Always too late"

this is brilliant wordsmanship. He cant find her and he knows she could find him if she wanted to.

"If I could just once catch your eye
Invisible against the words
That hold you down in solitude
And never let you go
The way that every time
My eyes just close
Like lids of wooden men in file
I put you under rainy day
Your hat's all off
And I'm gone away..."

please let me see you again and I wont disapoint you.

(this song may be the most brilliant love song ever recorded that noone heard, it's buried as a b side on the love song single)

i think this song is about a relationship or some sort. and how no matter what the girl does or says about him, he'll always be waiting 4 her. and how the girl is always avoiding him, and he feels that if she were to look at him once, and him catch her eye, that maybe... just maybe, things will change.

To me, I see this song as a stranger that sees this girl everyday and is in love at first sight, but is too shy to talk to her. About the title "2 late" I think it means he plans to get to know her but he is always too late and shes gone.

I don't know, I could be completely wrong.

oh the fun and crazy suspense of being into someone. lovesick, and happily beating along so the song goes.

This is a beautiful and catchy song about a love that never blossoms because the timing is all wrong.

Generally, I believe that iamthenightstars has the right idea. The only thing I would add is that while the stranger is very shy, the girl is also oblivious to his presence, with her "hat pushed straight away from [him]" to where it's too late for him to make a play for her; when her hat is finally off (i.e., she's ready and able to see him), he's "gone away", perhaps in another relationship.

Another brilliant little story. He's been there for far too long "BEHIND the signs that sell the news." It's tragic, because once he gives up ("I put you under rainy day") her hat is off, she could see him where he's always waited; but he's not there, she's too late.
