Lyrics for Pictures Of You as interpreted by oofus

Pictures Of You Lyrics
I've been looking so long at these pictures of you
That I almost believe that they're real
I've been living so long with my pictures of you
That I almost believe that the pictures are
All I can feel

Remembering
You standing quiet in the rain
As I ran to your heart to be near
And we kissed as the sky fell in
Holding you close
How I always held close in your fear
Remembering
You running soft through the night
You were bigger and brighter and wider than snow
And screamed at the make-believe
Screamed at the sky
And you finally found all your courage
To let it all go

Remembering
You fallen into my arms
Crying for the death of your heart
You were stone white
So delicate
Lost in the cold
You were always so lost in the dark
Remembering
You how you used to be
Slow drowned
You were angels
So much more than everything
Hold for the last time then slip away quietly
Open my eyes
But I never see anything

If only I'd thought of the right words
I could have held on to your heart
If only I'd thought of the right words
I wouldn't be breaking apart
All my pictures of you

Looking so long at these pictures of you
But I never hold on to your heart
Looking so long for the words to be true
But always just breaking apart
My pictures of you

There was nothing in the world
That I ever wanted more
Than to feel you deep in my heart
There was nothing in the world
That I ever wanted more
Than to never feel the breaking apart
All my pictures of you

"I've been looking so long at these pictures of you, That I almost believe that they're real." I love having pictures, but it is hard not to have anything to go with them.

This is a song about regret, not being able to find the right words, missing opportunities, asking too much. All he has left are his pictures of her.

its probably another song in referal to his drowned love??
( i place question marks simply as this is a new revelation to me about robert smith .. i dont study him i just happen to have listened to his music for years)

why this song means so much to me???
my husband died a few years back now and its kinda scarey in a way to have a song so close to how it feels when i drag out the old album.. i couldn;t ever hold onto his heart as he died the night after we dicussed seperation..
"remembering you fallen into my arms.. and screamed at the make believe".. he was a big drinker
"you were stone white so delicate lost in the cold"...and one night just before he died i found him outside in the dark naked and cold and shivering and bruised..
the night he died i told him not to go .. not to get on his bike.. he didn;t wish to leave either but said he had to but
"if only i thought of the right words"
even though he was an alcoholic he was still an amazing person .. just lost..
slow drowned
you were angels
so much more than everything
hold for the last time then slip away quietly
he finally found all his courage to let it all go.

I thin this song is just baout loss in generla. A death, a break up, whatever that loss might be. I know what this is like too. You see pictures and it's easy to htink of those people as still a part of your life, it's like you're living in the past...a beautiful song indeed. I love the cure times a million.

once again, this is real emo. people think it started with SDRE, but i think they are wrong. the cure was riding the pre-emo new wave rock thing since 1979. i love this song more than anyone could know, i'm pissed that its in an HP commercial... those fuckers

i remember this was the first song i ever heard that made me burst into tears when i first heard it. one of my friends describes it as sentimental but not maudlin, and i like that. i think the music video is just perfect for the song too. :)

Yeah definitely a song about regret. One of my major regrets is that I didn't discover this song earlier -- it's amazing

It is wider than snow. because, when you see snow blanket something, isn't it beautiful? doesn't it seem to go on forever? yeah. plus, that's what it says in the lyrics in the cd booklet.

anyway, this song is definitly about me. I was the girl that the guy I love is singing to throught this song and Robert Smith's voice. I knew I couldn't have him, so I shut him out, But when I let him in, and fell deeply madly in love with him, he ran to my heart. He understood where all of my pain came from. He held me and tried to comfort me, because my heart had died, was crushed without him. Me, so fragile, delicate, his"one". That he loves my pictures, if he can't be with the real thing. He wants nothing in the world more than he wants to be with me. Yeah, he sings it to me.

This song says so much, but an interview with Robert Smith that I heard him say it was about a fire that he had at the studio and he and the band had to put wet towels around their heads and try and go back in to safe some things. Some of which were pictures. Such a beautiful song though and so many menories stir up for me when I listen to it. I couldve cried when I heard it on an HP commercial..I mean are they that deseperate for money?

One thing all Cure fans must do, as hard as it may be, is to disregard everything Robert Smiths says about The Cure. He makes stories up. I'm a huge Cure fan, and i'm not trying to step on anyone's toes... but it's true. Let's all find the meaning together... but most importantly, find the meaning that means something to YOU!

I believe the "picture" represents a beautiful memory that one, in desperation, holds on to forever. Robert Smith's words probably are lies, but only because he probably wants the listener to gather theyre own feelings. Ratzody's description about her husband dying was a real tearjerker and clearly defines how absolutely powerful the song is, and can so be applied to the feeling of loss and memory.

This song reminds me so much of a girlfriend I had in high school 9 years ago that I cant get out of my mind. She loved The Cure and I hated them, now I love them because their songs remind me of her and how I should have never treated her like crap. So if you're out there Alissa, I'm sorry, I was young and dumb and I still have these pictures of you.
