Dear Prudence, won't you come out to play
Dear Prudence, greet the brand new day
The sun is up, the sky is blue
It's beautiful and so are you
Dear Prudence won't you come out to play

Dear Prudence open up your eyes
Dear Prudence see the sunny skies
The wind is low the birds will sing
That you are part of everything
Dear Prudence won't you open up your eyes?

Look around round
Look around round round
Look around

Dear Prudence let me see you smile
Dear Prudence like a little child
The clouds will be a daisy chain
So let me see you smile again
Dear Prudence won't you let me see you smile?

Dear Prudence, won't you come out to play
Dear Prudence, greet the brand new day
The sun is up, the sky is blue
It's beautiful and so are you
Dear Prudence won't you come out to play

General Comment:This song will never sound the same to me since learning what it's about, especially the ongoing aspect of it.
One has to wonder how Mia Farrow feels when she hears it, as she isn't happy about Prudence's continuing
involvement with the TM movement, and the fact they use her as a sort of hostage to deter her from criticizing
    it.

General Comment:listen to what John Lennon has said about music "it's a reflection of us all" I think this song is meant to inspire the character "prudence" to live his/her life. Open up your eyes, greet the brand new day those are lyrics suggesting you come out of your shell and live your life. It's a sad thing when someone shuts themselves off from the world and hibernates... I think the music is the sadness and the lyrics are the uplifting stance on inspiring someone... let me see you smile... let me see your beauty as a person and you smiling will make the world a better place for you if you can do it... just my thoughts anyway.. peace and love all.

General Comment:"This is one of my favorite Beatles track, especially musically (Ringo does a great drum solo at the end)."

Actually, that's PAUL playing drums on this track.

General Comment:Aside from the song being about Prudence Farrow, if you consider the definition of the word prudence/prudent, this song could be about someone who is very prudent and needs to let loose a little. There are a lot of things that people would like to do, but don't do because it wouldn't be very prudent. Although it is right to always think logically, sometimes you just need to let go and live a little. For example, Prudence Farrow thought it prudent to meditate instead of play and party. While this is a wise decision in her spiritual life, she needs to make time for her social life also.

General Comment:@uhmyeahboi: Exactly. Lovely movie, very well performed songs, and the whole of it, i thought, was very well put together. The scene of which you speak I thought was one of the best in the movie, especially with the room opening up into blue skies.
