Got a good reason
For taking the easy way out
Got a good reason
For taking the easy way out now
She was a day tripper
One way ticket, yeah
It took me so long to find out
And I found out

She's a big teaser
She took me half the way there
She's a big teaser
She took me half the way there, now
She was a day tripper
One way ticket, yeah
It took me so long to find out
And I found out
Ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah

Tried to please her
She only played one night stand
Tried to please her
She only played one night stand, now
She was a day tripper
Sunday driver, yeah
It took me so long to find out
And I found out

Day tripper, day tripper, yeah
Day tripper, day tripper, yeah
Day tripper, day tripper, yeah

General Comment:The song was a knowing reference to the burgeoning drugs-based counterculture of the mid-1960s. 'Day tripper' was a slang term for someone who failed to fully embrace the hippy lifestyle.

That's mine. Including the lick, the guitar break and the whole bit. It's just a rock 'n' roll song. Day trippers are people who go on a day trip, right? Usually on a ferryboat or something. But it was kind of - you know, you're just a weekend hippie. Get it?

General Comment:this song is obviously about a girl who led him on, so he "took the easy way out" and left her, doubt it goes much deeper than that

General Comment:The Beatles have admitted over and over that this is about drugs (LSD). Why do people refuse to accept that and want to offer so many other meanings? And, John wrote most of it.

General Comment: A great part about being a creative genius is that you can write things and you can rely on other people to interpret the meaning for you.

    General Comment:Nope.

This song is about a woman who is lazy good for nothing leach.

She led him on with great promisses always somehow never really materializing. Excuses excuses...

Probably bilked him out of money while stringing him allong. So now he has a good reason for taking the easy way out (break-up, divorce).

The key phrase is "Sunday driver, yeah".

When you drive arround on a Sunday, your not really in a hury to do much. No committment, no work involved. Just a lazy day.

But, if everyday is a Sunday for her while he's out busting his balls comes home to a shitty filthy house, no dinner on the table or a shotty dinner at best, it becomes apparent that she has no committment to the relationship. Broken promisses after broken promisses.

A one way ticket. She takes and takes but never really gives of herself. (She took me half the way there).

A leach is like that. They have no intention of sacrifice for the family. It does take a long time to figure them out cause they play the "I love you" card.

My Interpretation:The Song Is Mainley Teasing Paul about how he doesnt use LSD like everyone else
Day Tripper is refering to the TRIP you go on when using LSD
one way ticket because youll never have the same experience
the rest is probaley about a girl who was taking LSD and sharing some with her boyfriend
