Lyrics for Just Like Heaven as interpreted by oofus

Just Like Heaven Lyrics
"Show me how you do that trick
The one that makes me scream" she said
"The one that makes me laugh" she said
And threw her arms around my neck
"Show me how you do it and I promise you
I promise that I'll run away with you
I'll run away with you"

Spinning on that dizzy edge
I kissed her face and kissed her head
And dreamed of all the different ways I had
To make her glow
"Why are you so far away?" she said
"Why won't you ever know that I'm in love with you?
That I'm in love with you?"

You
Soft and only
You
Lost and lonely
You
Strange as angels
Dancing in the deepest oceans
Twisting in the water
You're just like a dream...

Daylight licked me into shape
I must have been asleep for days
And moving lips to breathe her name
I opened up my eyes
And found myself alone
Alone
Alone above a raging sea
That stole the only girl I loved
And drowned her deep inside of me

You
Soft and only
You
Lost and lonely
You
Just like heaven

what a coincidence.. i'm in love with this song too.

"found myself alone, alone, alone above a raging sea, that stole the only girl i loved, and drowned her deep inside of me"

not to mention that robert smith has THE most sexy voice, ever.

robert smith is a pimp. of all the cure songs though, cmon give me a break, this may be the most superficial ever. somoene please comment on any other one of their million songs besides their hits. they have so many more meaningful life-changing songs. please.

I love this song, it makes me feel good, and it cheers me up aswell. I recommend getting the acoustic version, in addition to the punk version.

It's the classic Men Are from Mars/Women Are from Venus. He loves her with all his heart, she is too blinded by insecurity to see and he is too lost in himself to show it. Bummer. Been there before.

The best part is the flow of the song, the way the lyrics are carried with the flow ("Dancing in the deepest oceans/Twisting in the water/Just like a dream"). It's a great technical blending of the two song elements that just catches your ear the first time you hear it, and makes you enjoy it forever.

I have to agree with RainyDayBoy on this one. The Cure has so many other songs that are so amazing and most people don't even realize it.

This song is great! It also makes me sad because he is singing about love with another, which I cannot enjoy any more :'/ I enjoy the version that Deadsy did of this song. It has a cool goth-synth-slow sound to it.

one of the first cure songs i ever heard.
captured me right away + made me love them. i think it ain't superficial at all.
people should b careful using words like this in the wrong context..
in my opinion it is about misunderstandings between lovers or rather the incapability of telling those we love most about our feelings. we can even b concerned w/ each other, noticing it too late or just having converstion problems - until we lose the people we love.
even if we want the same things, everything can probably go wrong. and we find ourselves alone above the raging sea of life. think about it.

I'm not a big Cure fan but I've always liked this song, and I dont think this song is superficial at all. It's a very honest song, and I think it has deep meaning. It's a little mushy, but so what! It's still a good song, and it's very poetic.

ok..folks its completely obvious this song is about oral sex..im guessing going down on the Woman..Dont look so deeply into it..i mean look at the opening line "Show me how you do that trick
The one that makes me scream" she said
"The one that makes me laugh" she said
And threw her arms around my neck
"Show me how you do it ...
Then..it saays.."Spinning on that dizzy edge"
now..im not an experianced in the art of oral sex..but..thers that wonderful rumor of a "dizziness"..
"And dreamed of all the different ways I had
To make her glow

this has to be one of my favorite songs of all time. it isnt superficial at all, and goldfinger does have an awesome cover of it... not to mention robert smith has the sexiest voice of all time. what it means to me? i think its between two lovers who send and receive the wrong signals, and without to hesitation or lack of confidence, they could be together... although i dont know why anyone wouldnt wanna stay with robert, no matter the communication level... :)

That is very true rainydayboy. although Just Like Heaven is like one of the most beautiful songs i've ever heard in my life...You guys probably just bought the cure's greatest hits and are only appreciating the ones that made it on the radio. Some of the best ones are the ones people like you havent even bothered to listen to yet. Try Jupiter crash...now that is fucking beautiful!~~~I M me @ sweetsweetcure (by the way i'm a girl)

God, I CAN'T DEAL WITH IT ANYMORE! It's really literal, folks. Robert Smith DID have a girlfriend that drowned! You won't hear him talk about it much, but he's said that much in interviews many many times. Sometimes I wonder about people... I know most songs are quite metaphorical, but take this one for what it is. And calling it superficial is just... mean. It's really quite sad and just because it was a hit gives you no reason to call it 'superficial' and such.

this is one of the sadest and most beautiful songs i've ever heard. robert smith is one of the most talented lyricists in the world. he awakens to find his love is gone and didn't realize just how much he love her until she was gone.

I've never really seen The Cure songs as superficial... If anything, they're possibly the one band who's lovesongs I can stand and I thinm ean something. (I'm not big on love songs at ALL). They're so unsuperficial to me.
I knew this song was about losing someone, but I didn't know it was so literal.
I like the juxtaposition. The music is so lovely, but the story is so sad...
I love.

This song is about dreaming of the perfect girl then waking only to realize she never existed at all. That is what this song is about and this is what I have heard it commented on MANY times by various people including the band. Utterly gorgeous song despite how unpopular it may be in some people's minds due to popularity.

i think it is mildly snobby to suggest that we fools who love this song only love it because it is so famous. That is bullshit. This is (only just) my favourite Cure song ever because it is beautiful and honest and not at all fucking superficial and i also possess Faith, Pornography, Disintegration, Kiss me kiss me kiss me and Paris and Show. Also, it is one of Robert Smith's top 5, which are
Just Like Heaven
Faith
A Forest
And two others i forget
P.S. Dinosaur Jr.'s cover is great and apparently influences the way the Cure play it today

this song is about oral sex on a woman, its very obvious. All this deep meaning, id love to think its true, as i am really into it. but its just a pretty way of saying he goes down on her but then she broke his heart. He exetended himeself.
