This song practically haunts you. I mean I get it stuck in my head for days, and its lyrics are beautiful. I am pretty into emo, and all the new-wave "punk" shit, but I really like this song.

this song is one of my most favorite cure songs...it's right up there with Jupiter Crash and Just Like Heaven. Robert Smith is a genious!!! i admire him sooo much i actually did a report on him for my speech final he had such an interesting life too. and theres just something about his voice and music that just gets to everyone even if you dont relate to the lyrics or heck even if you dont understand them...you still feel it. I AM SO MAD they wont come back to the US i'm afraid they will retire for good before i get to see them :(....by the way i'm a girl I M me @ sweetsweetcure

Ya know, I listened to both versions, the Cure's and the Get Up Kids, and maybe its wrong or whatever, but I prefer a million times the Get Up Kids one. I know they shouldnt be creditted for the song, since they didnt write it. But the way they play it is just great.. I swear it gives me goosebumps each time I hear it..

it only sounds perfect coming from the cure. the tempo is just right with this one. i prefer the slow sounding one to the getup kids version, not that i have anything against them.

And its because you're an "emo" chick. The Cure's version kills the Get up Kids version. The only cover of a new wave song that doesn't suck is the Deftones cover of Depeche Mode "Sweetest Perfection".

awwww.... I LOVE this song it's just so... sad in such a happy way it makes me feel like i can be happy even if im the sadest person in the world at the time i feel like there is hope and the world is not all that bad if you just look for the good things in life once again...AWWWWW PLUS the main guy from the cure is so.. PRETTY...hehe

This is a great song :)
I must say that the Cure's verision owns the Get Up Kids'. The tempo is rather nice in the kids' verision, but Robert Smith sings soooo much better than the singer in the Kids' and the trumpets kicks ass :)

Ohh, and I hate to sound boring, but isn't this song about masturbation?

dinosaur jrs cover of just like heaven is great, but not as good as the fantastic original. This song is absolutely wonderful, beautiful, elegant and haunting, i adore every second of it. I don't think it is about wanking somehow

its crazy in the video, all the band members are trapped inside this closet and the closet falls off a cliff. Now theyre in the water and the closet is on its side and is starting to fill up with water. They are having trouble singing because water keeps covering their heads and stuff and it really is extremely claustrophobic. My guess is really that he is talking about feeling WAAAAY to close to someone else probably emotionally and just feeling trapped in or claustrophobic.

Yeah, i'd have to agree it is one crazy video. I think this songs about like waiting for something for so long then when its finally about to happen being too afraid to go through with it. Maybe its about going out with someone for the first time, or doing anything for a first time. It doesnt really matter what, it can pretty much fit anything

this is the song that originally made me fall in love with the cure.
actually, the first time i heard it, i immediately associated it with losing my virginity (which, as it turned out, my virginity meant absolutely nothing to me lol)

This song reminds me of a guy losing his virginity- he excited and happy because he wants sex and is curious, but at the same time he's worried and frightened that he won't perform well and do good.

I burned a cd with the Cure's version of this song along with the Get Up Kid's version and gave it to the guy I lost my virginity to BEFORE we had sex, and I think it made him less self-conscious.

I don't know... Maybe I'm too uptight, but I would like to read the explanation.

For me, this song has the same meaning than it does for NewDawnFades217: about doing something that you have been waiting for so long with so much desire. It can be sexual intercourse but I relate it more to being about to kiss that special person after hours out on a date, with all the anxiety that kind of encounter can produce.
